I have been having no luck finding 9mm and 22LR ammo in my area...why is that?

Because others found it first....it's happened before...it will happen again.....people expect a shortage/ban on something...and they buy everything in sight......Ken

I talked to a guy yesterday who had bought a brick of 38 special ammo (250 rounds) the day before at a gun show. The ammo was run of the mill practice rounds, not the high dollar self defense loads.

    He paid $115 for it.

I guess that's just the way it is right now. Hopefully, the panic buying will ease, and things will get back to normal.

This. Ammo will take the longest to recover because more folks will do some major stockpiling after this. Many people did this after the first mistake...I mean the first time barak hussein was elected. But I don't recall the situation being this bad. Lots of new shooters in the last couple of years as well.

It was that bad Lerchess....I remember local LEOs that where about to have their backups pulled....because they couldn't qualify with 'em....due to lack of 38 special and 380 auto ammo.....I found 1 cop carrying Std pressure 130 Gr. full patch..."Air Force load" in his 442....only ammo he could find....I had to go out to the Bronco and give him some defense ammo....when people panic they buy anything....if they own something to shoot it...or not.....Ken

This nonsense will continue as long as folks are stupid enough to pay $115.00 for 250 rounds of .38 Special....
    I saw a tub of 500 Remington .22 LR marked at $ 130.00.....Hint...you don't need .22 ammo THAT bad...

You are right - I remember several examples like that happening. So far, I have been deployed during both this panic and the last one so I haven't felt it as hard.

I probably shouldn't put this here but..... A friend of mine works higher up at Fed-ex. Why would we be shipping planes full of ammo to China. It's not marked ammo but that is what is on the planes. What other country would be getting this ammo through them??

They will need lots of luck with that one. PRK's people are starving so bad, we can win them over with (quite honestly), MRE's.

The threat of more gun control has made existing shooters stock up, and previous non-shooters become shooters (that also want to stock up). All we can do is sit back and ride this out. The manufacturers are doing what they can to make more.

There's no MRE's on these planes.

Why would we be shipping planes full of ammo to China.

Its the 'chosen one's' way of killing two birds with one stone so to speak.
    1. It pays down some of the debt the USA owes China.
    2. It removes ammo from the domestic market and helps the antigun agenda.

Wouldnt it be ironic if China gives them back by invading the USA and using cartridges marked 'Made in the USA' ............

Edited to add: Must remember to stock up on Tinfoil when I head to the SE...........I think I have used up the available supplies over here.

Again, look at the Homeland Security purchase of 1.6 B (B)illion rounds of ammo - what they gonna do with a 100 year supply of ammo - 'cept to keep it out of our hands.
PBS reports they are buying all sorts of stuff - .22LR up to .50BMG.

I'm not saying there is a conspiracy - but if it smells like a fart, it probably is a fart.

Went to Bass Pro this morning. Almost no cf ammo. no rf at all. A lot of the shotgun ammo was moved into the cf section.

The Department of Homeland Security put in an order for enough ammo to fight WWII. The ammo makers can't keep up with it. And I believe that it's all by design. If they can choke off our ammo then owning a gun is meaningless. Write your congressmen and let them know you are NOT pleased. And remember this next time you go to the polls to vote.

Figured this "drama" would eventually come up here, for what I read that 1.6 billion round DHS order is for 5 years, simple math would show this to be around 3% of the ammo sold in the USA in the same time frame, math does not lie but all sources of info including the 1.6 billion round one come from the same source, the all truth spewing internet.
If this post is non welcomed, I can always give you a recipe for making "tostones".

The total order isn't for 1.6 billion rounds. It's less than that. The correct amount has been posted in other threads, but posters keep on ignoring that and not responding. Guess it doesn't fit their preconceived notion of what's going on. Facts are irrelevant.

As for plane loads to China: that's a pretty inefficient way to get large amounts of ammo any distance. Ship would be better. And if the boxes are labelled one way, but contain something else, how do the shippers know what's in there? Have they opened up the cases? Seems like that would be unethical, at least.
