    Nice pistol! Congrats.

Nice! If you run across a 4506 or 1006 for under $700, grab it and don't look back!!

I think you will like it. I had a 5904(blued version) a number of years ago and it was a flawless shooter. Don't recall why I sold it but wish I had not.

I looked at this one and was too heavy and decided on the 469. After researching and finding out the history knew this one was in good shape . The bug is going to stop for awhile , went way over budget this month

Before I had a chance to fire it 5906 was left at shop today, owner said hasn't worked on one in years. The Gunsmith who doe's will be in Monday and will call with estimate . Trigger with hard pull and no reset , another lesson learned the hard way.

My wife has a 5906 that looks just like that one including the blue plastic case. She loves it, she picked it out. Although it shoots pretty well I've never been a fan of those big S&W autos myself due mostly to weight and feel. I have a Glock 17 in 9mm for my full size 9mm and a couple others... Star Model Super B & Walther P38. Oh... and a Cobray M11/9. FWIW, she doesn't particularly care for my Glocks either, even though she can shoot them well.

The trigger on my 469 in double action mode is atrocious. But here's the clicker, I carry it with a full Magazine and nothing in the barrel. If I need to use it I've got to rack the slide back which cocks the hammer and then it's ready in Single action mode, which has a very nice trigger.

Actually, when I first got the 469 in 1981, I was told it wasn't a very accurate pistol. I have since proved this to be BS. It is capable of good accuracy, even in my hands and that's saying a lot of a handgun in my usage. It's a solid gun that fits me to a tee.

Edited to add, I know some of you will say I need to keep one in the chamber for emergencies. But I practice with it. I practice dry firing it AND I practice racking the slide. Actually, I think I've got a better chance having to rack the slide than I would trying to shoot it in Double action mode. If there was a way to attach a hammer spur on it and be able to cock it before shooting, I might consider keeping one in the chamber. But then again I can rack the slide now about as fast as I can cock a hammer. I don't even carry my 1911 cocked and locked, although it's safe to do so.

I can't stand it reminds when a kid got new bike on my birthday, let a neighbor boy ride it down hill and smack a Mail Box. 469's action is really smooth and managed a couple of decent groups with my bad aim , really looking forward getting to the range with my 5906.

You'll fit in here just fine - a lot of folks don't "get" this forum's culture, which is pretty unique! Which is, of course, why I like it here!

Well I feel kinda silly but have goods news , Shop called and said pistol is ok $20 for inspection. Found out since I turned it in that a hard pull in DA is normal and was trying to reset incorrectly. Will make sure to have it explained to me when pick it up tomorrow.

Some don't care for the DA/SA pistols. They do take some getting used to.

Shot 5906 first time today and can see the White Dots no problem and shot little better group. Gunsmith suggested Ramp job for HP but 5906 and 459 not for duty use , maybe on one I plan to carry.

Found in S&W Forum archives 469 , 5906 and others will fire +P , Hollow Points and Lead Tip no problem.

Glad to hear nothing is wrong with your new gun. Getting it checked was the right thing to do as now you will not have doubts. Some people do not like a DA/SA trigger to include one respected armorer on this board. However I for one have no issue with it and shoot mine well. Enjoy your new guns
