Jake & Jaeda

Jaeda is my nieces daughter.
This was her first time ever turkey hunting.
She loves to shoot and hunt.
Lots of birds talking today so she had a great time.
Only managed a Jake but it's what's for dinner for her.

Awesome! It's rained us out the past two weekends. After today we will be lucky if all the turkeys didn't get washed away!

As far as "only managed a jake", meh. A turkey is a turkey is a turkey. If it's legal to shoot, I'm shooting it. I'll NEVER be choosy on turkeys.

    Fantastic!

What cpj saud is exactly right. These birds are too damned hard to kill to be choosy unless you have a massive, private estate full of stupid ones. I shoot the first legal turkey I can and then worry about getting a bigger one if I'm feeling frisky later. Scoring a bird - any bird - is a big accomplishment.
Accuracy: because white space between bullet holes drives me insane.

Fantastic! She has every right to be as proud as that smile says she is.
    Congratulations to the young lady

She is a very happy girl.
Gave me the "best day ever".
Brought a few .22's along and she also got in some extra target shooting in at the sandbank.
She tried to claim some of my mouth calls.
Wasn't happening but I do know what to get for her birthday. I pity her mom she'll have it worn out in a week.

A buddy of mine is one of those OCD turkey hunters. All the gear, all the calls, multistate travel, working on the grandslam, uses a shotgun that shoots groups at 40 yards.

When I started, he told me, "If it comes in, it goes down."
It's boring, and your lack of creativity knows no bounds.

    I'm fine with shooting Jake.
Just the ones we saw the evening before we're all named Thomas.

Varmintmist I have a friend that into it.
Me ok couple mouth calls a few shells some camo check good to go.

Thanks guys she's a good kid and has that hunting spirit in her. Sure beats video games. She got a wicked cool closeup picture of a hawk or falcon today also.

Whether his name be Tom or Jake or George for that matter, if he's a turkey he's a trophy in my book. When I have the opportunity to shoot a turkey. I'm, going for food quality, because a nice young turkey can be very good to eat. A smaller, younger one eats better. Give me a jake anyday.

    Absolutely
I hope to make one with my son Thursday.
Got the bird and scenario planned.
    We'll see if it works.
