For you lever rifle fans...........there is a good article in the March edition of Dillon's Blue Press I just got in the mail.
About the Winchester 73, the only rifle a movie was named after.

If you don't get their monthly mag it's free and always has a few interesting write ups on guns along with their products.

Or Carbine Williams, but that was about the man and the M1 Carbine. I dunno. I wondered myself, just semantics I reckon.

Lot of Springfield rifles from Muskets on up, so maybe he meant the only movie about a particular model, but your post was about a movie featuring a Trapdoor Springfield. Beats me, must be the way you look at it, I reckon.

Hmmm, was Springfield Rifle movie about the Trapdoors? Did they even have any during the Civil War or were they conversions? Timelines confuses me. I know they had some breech loader conversions.

It was 1866 when they adapted the Allin conversions.........you are correct Springfield Rifle was about Springfields, but the movie took a liberal approach the historical timeline, I think. Were there other versions in use during the Civil War.........I really don't have a good answer.

Reminds me of Westerns where the hero is mustered out in 1865 a few months later heads West with a 1873 Colt Peacemaker strapped on his leg!

You and others on here are much more knowledgeable than I am on them old rifles and I always learn a lot from you.

There are plenty on here who have forgotten more than I'll ever know about guns.
