Wonder the usefulness of an incoming airstrike announced in live world news....other than propaganda purposes that is, since by now the sensible material and personnel must have been removed, hidden or disguised.

Reality TV war? Hope they only use drones and/or cruise missiles and avoid risking military personnel lives.

Is Syria a DIRECT threat to us, here, on US soil?
If the answer is no, then who cares what happens there? We have no business playing world cop.
    "But chemical weapons! Children! Women!"

    Not our problem.

That’s what I alluded in the 2A/political thread about it.

I said I wouldn't "over there". Still break down and lurk a bit.

This won't accomplish anything. Whatever they had is miles underground by now.

Maybe the pilots also shook their fists outside the window as they flew by.👊

Yes it will. It is a perfect distraction from the payoffs to the porn star, Playboy bunny, and Comey's book.

Trump could stand on the WH lawn and crap golden goose eggs and pay off the entire national debt and be accused of doing it for selfish personal reasons he would profit from...........

Even my son noticed the dandy hand picked face photos the news shows on tv. We get quite a good laugh about it together.😁

...could in some alternate reality. We don't live in that universe. Does he? No.

It is nice that you drag political discussions into the clubhouse when it is convenient to yourself. How about posting it where it belongs?

I don’t watch the news, so I wonder how Russia and Iran feel about this?

Trump spoke directly to them in is announcement. I'm sure their plans are larger than media posturing and saber thrusts, but I doubt they're having a party.

This has been about the dumbest thing we have done since deciding to stay in Afghanistan. I'm actually worried about this..

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. First he was criticized for waiting too long and now accused of 'Wagging The Dog' when he did.

Mods please merge this thread to the one over in the 2A/Political on Syria, it has turned political and degraded into acrimony early on. And I'm as guilty as the rest.  Thanks.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all our military personnel and their families involved in this and those from Britain and France and to all deployed in that region of the world.

So when we don't agree with something the President does, it's because we've been "gotten to" by media personalities?
You don't think maybe that we simply don't agree with what they did?
I honestly don't get the notion that a person should back the President 100% of the time just because he's a republican.

Ha, got your goats a little..........I don't agree with everything Trump/Republicans say or do anymore than you do with what those three say.

    Funny how that works.............

Get my goat? Hardly. Simply pointing out some facts.  To some, if you don't walk lock step with the chosen politician, you're  a liberal commie bastard.
I will criticize any and every politician in the USA, at any time, for any reason. Why? They are employees of the of people that  are hired by winning a popularity contest. Nothing more. And as such are subject to being ridden like a two dollar prostitution.

The net gain of all of this is that we successfully executed a very politically correct act of war against a genuine tyrant, in concert with NATO allies, with no apparent losses of our own. We kicked a bully in the nuts, and apparently got away with it.

Sure, it cost millions of borrowed dollars, but the Navy needed the practice, and it bolsters our ability to participate in the high level brinkmanship that our enemies love so much, and that so many recent American presidents were not very good at. The KGB graduate that manages Russia for the oligarchs has confirmed that, yes, Trump really is a 'cowboy' that must not be pushed too far. As a bonus, North Korea has further evidence that we can kick the ass of any tinpot, third world dictator, with one hand tied behind our backs. Kudos to the Navy, for doing their job bravely and well.

    Next crisis, please.

I figure the monetary cost came out of the defense pork barrel. Nothing extra required.

Hopefully thats all, and it becomes old news.

It is not only our right, but our duty to question the actions of those who win those popularity contests.

There are times when we need to stand behind our country our president and support them (whomever they are happen to be) and I believe this was one of them.

The use of chemical weapons is a war crime and crime against humanity.
Many thanks to our British and French allies in this effort.

Are any of you really naive enough to think we could have convinced those who assisted us into doing it just to help Trump deflect attention away from his troubles at home?

It is also much better to have battlegrounds over there before it spreads here.

Politicians use slight of hand all the time. If this makes for a convenient diversion, and I'm not saying that's what it is as I'm in no position to know. It's certainly not the first or the worst or exclusive to the Trump presidency.

If it had been a unilateral action by the US alone, then maybe I'd give it a little more thought. And even then there are times we have to act alone.

I am not saying that wagging the dog is what is really going on right now, but it needs to be considered. It is a known fact that this president reacts to whatever he is watching on television at the moment.

With any luck, this strike goes our way meaning Russia needs to sit down and shut up about taking down our missiles and maybe quit covering for Assad, and Iran needs to back off on their aspirations. I kind of see the chemical weapons as secondary.
