Wheelgun pic to avoid the fine

Brought her home today. Made by Uberti, single action in 45 Colt, 5.5" barrel. It's a competition model, so it has the wide rear sight notch, slim checkered grips and trigger job. Fits well in the hand and balances well. No creep in the trigger and averages a 2lb 4oz pull.

Been putting together some test loads. Want to find one to shoot in this and my Uberti 1873 carbine. Plans are to get them both out to the range Thursday after work.

    Classic! You suck!

Carry a 25 if it makes you feel good, but do not ever load it. If you load it, you may shoot it. If you shoot it, you may hit somebody, and if you hit somebody – and he finds out about it – he may be very angry with you. --Jeff Cooper

    Nice lookin six-shooter.

I like about 8.0 grains of Unique pushing a 250-255 grain hard cast SWC. Titegroup has worked well too for me.

Known sometimes as the artillery model. The finish is beautiful.

Cast lead 250 grs and Oregon Trail. Adjust powder to the sights. If you get a cartridge belt and leave it loaded too long it'll turn the brass green.

Make sure it's lashed before you mount up.

    Good looking revolver!

Thanks guys. The looks compliment the carbine nicely. I ant no cowboy, but I cowboy guns are fun to shoot.

The test loads are Oregon Trail 250 grain LRNFP over 5.0 to 5.5 grains of Trail Boss. I have been using and like TiteGroup for the carbine, so I'll run some of those in the revolver as well.

I'll definitely need some leather for this...eventually. Can't say I know what "lashed" means

It's a leather loop that goes over the hammer spur to keep the revolver from falling out when you get on your horse....an early retention device.....This is one reason cross draw rigs were popular....Those low slung Buscadero fast draw rigs are a hollywood invention....

    Beautiful revolver, by the way...

The Hollywood gunslining cowbows lashed the hammer with a rawhide thong to keep their hoglegs secure during a hard ride.

The real life old time pistoleros of the Kansas Missouri border packed as many loaded handguns in thier belts, saddle holsters, and coats as they could.

Just have to remember to unlash it before you brace any pole cats.

That, is a nice looking revolver, was it in the shop or did you order one and that's what showed up?

We have 2 gun shops here in town, neither carry guns like this. I ordered this one through Gallery of Guns.

So that is just a random gun off the distributors' shelf? That makes it even more impressive in my mind

It is. While I don’t like the name, and don’t typically go for “signature model” anything, it was the only competition model I could find, and I wanted the features. Thankfully, the name on the barrel is actually pretty hard to see.
