Bullet penetration through house structure, a test.

This pretty much puts a lot of over-penetration wives tales to rest.

I know that a .223 FMJ can penetrate at least 6 mobile homes....and a load of 12 gauge #6 birdshot will go through a mobile home and a half....

They didn't use a shotgun with various ammo.

I don't think anyone here ever really believed that one.

It's only possible if you have an .88 Magnum...
    Overkill is underrated.

Maybe or maybe not. I offered up the video more for its entertainment and somewhat educational value.

I hear the claim bullets penetrate an entire neighborhood of houses from people at the gun range or gun stores at least three or four times a year.

But you will only do it once. It's hard to shoot a gun with no hands.

    Only with depleted uranium rounds.

:uhm: I thought all the over- penetration issues were about collateral damage in the next room----this video
proves collateral damage l can happen in the next two rooms.

    Yes.

That wasn't assumed otherwise. The purpose of the video, I think, is to show there is a large unlikelihood the bullet will leave the house.

Worried about over penetration? Try this.

Instead of going to all that trouble, just use a cut shell.

A cut shell acts more like a slug, doesn't explode on impact like a wax slug and nor do they feed as well through a pump gun. Making wax slugs really isn't that much trouble at all and cheap trap loads become quite devastating.

While you can generalize, each situation is different.

That shot you expect to go through a wall, for instance,

can deflect off a stud, and go through the floor, instead.

I'll stick to buckshot and slugs.
