You mean "That's how I got to Memphis" by Tom T. Hall? I left it for someone else 'cause I thought it was a gimme.

Or maybe I googled the lyrics.

:rotflmao: I thought it was a gimme too, since I practically gave away the title....

Actually, I preferred Carl Perkin's version.

Actually, in my opinion, and everybody has an opinion so it doesn't carry a whole lot of water, but I never thought Elvis had a great voice. Seemed strained to me. Having said this, there were some songs he sang fit his voice and I considered them as great. Nobody else could sing "Ain't Nuthin' but a Hound Dog" like Elvis. or "Love me Tender."

I can't remember but I think it was better than that dried up stuff you been smokin'! Where the hell were you in the 60s? To me the Eagles seemed like a carry over from a greater music age. That's just me. I was in the group that would wait for summer when all the new songs really came out. It was a time when it seemed a number one hit was released almost every week. So to me, no matter how good they were, they had tough competition and they were lost in a sea of great music.

I was still trying to break away from all that country western crap my folks listened to. Never really cared for it.

But, how anyone can put down a band that's rolled out so many great hits over the years and considered one of the best rock bands ever is beyond me.

And did a much better job of it. I did see Tina Turner in concert in the mid 80s. Pretty damn talented.

    Another easy one

    I don't remember if I cried
when I heard about his widowed bride
but something touched me deep inside
    the day the music died

    and one not so easy

    Is it cloak 'n' dagger
Could it be spring or fall
    I walk without a cut
    Through a stained glass wall
    Weaker in my eyesight
    The candle in my grip
And words that have no form
    Are falling from my lips

I figured this one wouldn't be easy. Let me throw you a bone with some additional lyrics. Think of one of the hottest sister acts of the 70s.

These dreams go on when I close my eyes
Every second of the night I live another life
These dreams that sleep when it's cold outside
Every moment I'm awake the further I'm away

Here's one from the mid 60s. This band disbanded after a few big hits, mostly because their drummer died of an OD. The lead singer and guitar player, though, went on to become a rock legend, and just retired from touring last year.

I think I'm making this too easy.

    It's getting near dawn,
When lights close their tired eyes
I'll soon be with you my love,
To give you my dawn surprise
I'll be with you darling soon,
I'll be with you when the stars start falling

Think that's the title, without googling. Didn't see your first post, but got it without the additional lyrics.

The song is Sunshine of Your Love. I think the only 3 man band that compare in terms of music quality and quantity is ZZ Top. It amazes me how just 3 guys can produce that much great sound.
