Was on TCM last night(unedited)....although the movie was a box office flop it's a pretty good (and long - 4 hours) about the Johnson County wars in Wyoming...focused a lot on Ella Watson (a supposed madam that was accused of trading "carnal pleasures" for stolen cattle.). Kris Kristofferson looked a lot younger back then....

Ever seen it?

Your thoughts...I liked it

re: Jayhawker27

I've seen it.  The movie is OK as long as you realize that practically none of is true.

I used to hunt on the ranch where a lot of the history played out so I became interested in the story long before the movie was made.  Interestingly, where the shootout took place, Crazy Woman Creek, is also where Jeremiah Johnson supposedly entered the "wilderness", the Bighorn mountains.

Crazy Woman creek, is loaded with beaver dams, ducks, geese, huge trout, whitetail deer, and pheasants.  It's also a great place to use to ambush pronghorn that get within rifle range.

Another interesting story to come out of Wyoming regarding hired guns is the story of Tom Horn.  The movie also was OK but the true story of Tom Horn is better.

Yes - they did stretch history quite a bit....Rather than being shot, the Association hanged Ella Watson with a lasso...so she strangled...

and Tom Horn's story is indeed one worth getting to know...

Jim Averill as well.  Both two or 3 years before the shootout

Children, early eighties when I lived in NYC they ran Fassbinder's Berlin Alexanderplatz, a 15 hour German TV miniseries on a movie theater, there where 2 options, 5 tickets so you could see a ~3 hour segment weekly and a once run of the entire 15 hour thing with intermissions, took something like 20 hours to watch the entire thing, to be young again, now I'll be snoring by hour 6.
