Saw Nothing - But Jordan And I Had A Good Time :)

Well Jordan and I did not see anything when hunting yesterday. So, he did not get to use his new 12ga with double OO or even the six shot he carried for squirrels during the middle of the day. Nothing moved, we did not even kick up a rabbit. I didn't get to pop a cap on my 8mm Rem mag either, but we sure did have a lot of fun and at the end of the day we went to our favorite eating place. Here are a few pictures of our time together which really made for a special day. I sure do love this boy, what a blessing he has been in my life.

We were sitting in a natural blind in the thicket and he is a motionless hunter, does not make a bunch of noise.

Safe with his guns. I wanted to see if I had to stop him before he crossed and I didn't have to remind him. We are hunting squirrels at this point and he unloaded his shotgun before crossing that little ditch.

As an old friend of mine once said, "Sometimes the fun stops once you pull the trigger." He was an avid gun collector (and by avid I mean we were never able to take a full inventory of his guns because we'd just run out of steam and loose our place) and outdoorsman that HATED cleaning and dragging game. His greatest joy came from being outdoors and enjoying nature with friends and family. He used to call it his "taking a gun out for a walk" time. I have since learned to appreciate his thinking and there have been times when a walk through the woods with one of my kids would have only been interrupted by game if we were actually attacked.

It's all in a good time! I've been out with my grandson Blayne for about 4 days straight. We have seen does and one buck that we coudln't ID as a shooter, but we had a good time. He is taking tomorrow off because his dad will be off, but I'm hoping he will go with me for the season finally on Saturday and Sunday. He is using the .250 Savage I had built on a Howa action with a Krieger Barrel. That thing just shoots and the recoil is almost non existant. Nuthin quite like taking grand kids hunting.
