Doctor Who, if what you mean by a militia is the National Guard or for that matter anything along those lines I agree 100%, it reinforces our military and provides regular citizens with a means to do this while staying at home, many National Guard members including units from PR do duty in the sandbox and elsewhere, that in great part is their reason for being.

Yes our armed forces are still comprised in part of riflemen, that is not the main part on how wars are conducted now, still we have trained men with guns because we have the resources to put them in great numbers where we need them and this today is more to police and to reach those enemies that run and hide, than the historic and incredible BRAVE storming of a beach against enemy fire.

You know at one time wars where fought by men racing at each other with rocks and sticks, then with swords, lances, etc. while arrows flew in both directions, then black powder rifles and cannons came along so they would stand in formation and shoot at each other, technology influences in great strides the battlefield.

All that said "I saw the light" and changed my position of a need of an armed militia, still I do not see our military getting in bed with a tyrannic entity or an enemy invasion taking place but as the future is unwritten, better be ready than sorry.

Today it would take a lot more than the planets aligning for a need of an actual armed militia, ponder about this from a realistic place, our military are our brothers and sons, cavemen did not have nuclear submarines, there are a lot of levels and fronts in today's wars.

Now, there are rare cases of pure genius loose out there, out of 6 billion folks in the planet only "five-seven" knows how an enemy could put us today in this position and he is not talking, let's be grateful for this.

Uh huh....yup...you got me. I'm just some 14 year old kid. Now the real question is, are you really that dumb.....or are you trying out for politics?

Everyone lighten up, we all love guns on here. I don't care where ya come from, united we stand and divided we fall.

Ok everyone this thread is getting far too personal and dangerously close to getting yanked...

You think? How about we start yet another thread with a very simple point so you can crap all over that one too?

First there was the one that makes the simple point that some elites in our society have armed guards to protect their children while advocating that we not do the same for ours. Now this one states that rifles are used in murders less than many people (including myself) realized. I am glad that you have an opinion in the matter and you are welcome to share it. But how about acknowledging and respecting other people's opinions?

Too late. Now a third one has been crapped up over the point that even poor Americans enjoy a fairly high standard of living.

ATF should not be a government agency, it should be a discount store.

BTW bruchi, I just got outta my dentist's office. He is PR (retired Army too) his wife is the cleaning tech and several of his help are PR. He is wonderful and a sincerely good man and I like them all and will miss them when I move.

He was telling me about PR politics and the new GOV, all very interesting.
