Recommend powder for 357 and 45 ACP

One powder I would advise folks to be careful with and might not advise a beginner to start with is Titegroup. Great powder. I use it in a lot of my mild handgun loads, including 357 and 45acp. I love it. But, it takes a very little amount of it and often times the difference between starting and max loads is 1/2 grain or so. Very little room for error and not only are double charges possible, quadruple charges are usually very possible. You really have to be careful with the measurement of Titegroup. Add to that, a lot of powder measures don't like throwing charges that small......

Please don't get me wrong though. I'm a huge fan of that powder. Great for mild, very accurate handgun loads.

I use Titegroup for fireforming some of the wildcat cases I make. About 6 grains or so in a .30-06, topped with grits or Cream-O-Wheat to fill the case, then a tissue paper plug- - - - -pop a cap and a very nicely-formed 8MM-06 case comes out!

My mother tried to feed them to me when I was a kid, but it never 'took.' Then, I got married, and my wife made them with butter, bacon bits, onions and garlic, and I loved them. Now, all the TV chefs make 'em that way and call it polenta, so Yankees will eat them, too.

I've gone to using Universal Clays for my "go-to" powder in handgun and pistol rounds, using H110 only for magnum loads. I get decent accuracy and velocity, and it's a bit cleaner than Unique.
