Taken from a custom gunmaker's website

Notice anything about these "custom grips" for a 1911?

Yes, the picture taker can be seen in the reflection. He is naked. And fat.

You mean the fact that the grip doesn't fit the frame properly?

Yep. Should be covering and supporting the plunger tube. Also, notice the "idiot mark" where the slide stop was swung into position, rubbing the frame.

I tend to think that if you're showing stuff like that to highlight your quality, you might want to look at the details. If a builder missed that detail from a vendor, what else might he have missed?

Also, is it just me, or does the grip safety look weird?

Yep, the grip safety looks sort of bogus. Definitely one part or the other was cut a bit short. First rule of carpentry applies; measure twice, cut once.

The grip safety is a drop-in meant for a standard frame.

How about the huge gap between the metal snake and the grip! Kinda looks like kitchen table gunsmithing to me...

Holy crap, I just looked at the rest of his webpage. Yikes. Not only does 1998 want their angelfire website format back, but the 'creations' are hideous.

    Yikes.

So.....I'm the only one that thinks it looks sexy then?

Other than the gap between wood and snake, i don't see anything else wrong..

This is what happens when everyone's dream is allowed to come true. Then again gangbangers need custom gun work too! (his shop is in LA)

Somebody like the old Safari Arms style. Possibly because they've watched "Wanted" with Angelina Jolie.

IMHO, must haves for Python hunters consist of a bag of hand grenades and a M-60. Oh, or a garden ho with a 20 foot handle.
