    Gun ID help please

Just was texted these pics from a friend. It is something he is looking at, so I haven't seen it in person. Looks like a M1985 to me, but old revolvers aren't my bag. uploadfromtaptalk1359734977918.jpguploadfromtaptalk1359734986322.jpguploadfromtaptalk1359734997563.jpg

    Thanks guys!

Actually, I think it's an 1874 model. See fluted cylinder and blued finish.

Actually you are correct. I fell in love with those after the movie The Mummy and someday I will have a matched pair with the rig they had in the movie.

I was trying to google The Mummy's firearms list when you posted that. That's how I know of the 1873s myself...

Knitepoet beat me to it, but I'll take it a step further: it's a revolver.

    Thanks guys.

One final question, is this considered an assault revolver?

It's French, so.. no. It's a retreat revolver.

Since its French do you reload it with whale vomit? Just checking. When the Germans arrived in Paris during WWII the French asked, Table for 100,000? Later,

I always pictured a French gun being like the old slap stick cartoon guns. You know when you pull the trigger a flag pops out of the muzzle that says "BANG". Except the French ones just had a blank white flag....

Heavens no! If the person you're surrendering to is too close, you might poke him with the flag and start a fight!

Well, it does have a pistol grip. But it only holds 6 rounds. Add a flash hider or barrel shroud and yes, it would be an assualt revolver.
