What kind of gun shop customer are you?

I came across this after watching the video of Larry's best friend in the 2A forum. Thought it was worth sharing. I definitely recognize all of these types of customers. I myself have tendencies towards the talker and the lurking know it all, although I fight the urge most of the time.

I watched this video several times before. I know everyone can fit one of those criteria from time to time. I did see another video talking about gun store workers. It had some useful tips such as talking to your customers, showing them different brands other than glock, and most important, take a bath.

Re: What kind of gun shop customer are you?

I just cut to the chase. I do research before I go to actually look at the gun, to find the cheapest deal online, and then add about $50 for transfer fees, local sales tax and shipping. If I find what I'm looking for near that price, I just plop down the cash and I'm out the door. If it's a lot higher, I say it's a little more than I want to spend. If the guy indicates he will negotiate, I make an offer, he makes a counter offer and I either take it or leave it. If he says anything to indicate his price is firm, I thank him and walk out.

This is the best way to get along - he has no opportunity to try to BS me, and I don't offend him by correcting his incorrect statements. Nobody wins the kind of pissing contests that develop in a gun store.

When I go in those places, I usually know generally or specifically what I want. If I need information or a recommendation, I'll ask for it and I'll listen to the answers. I'm definitely not a know-it-all. I love having this forum as a source of information before I buy something.

None of the above. I hit the pistol cases and long gun racks looking for something I want, and tell any salesperson "I'm just looking", which is what I'm doing. Here lately, they got nothing I want. That's scary!

That's me. All I want from the guy working the counter is the bottom dollar.
Not the part about having nothing I want.

At my LGS, I go to hang out, work on guns for them, help out when they're busy, and generally visit with my friends.

If I need something, I'll get it.
Lord, make me fast and accurate. Let my aim be true and my hands faster than those who would seek to destroy me. Grant me victory over my foes and those that wish to do harm to me and mine. But Lord, if today be the day that you call me home, let me die in a pile of empty brass.

I'm the most boring LGS customer of all: the guy wh ordered it and is probably just there to do an FFL transfer inbound from an out-of-state dealer and/or galleryofguns.com

I'm the BROWSER> I find the weapon I'm interedted in, examine it completely, then go home and order it from the Internet, where even with shipping and transfer "mordita," I usually get a much better price, and no sales tax to my corrupt local Democrat-controlled government.
