You deserve it for installing a red dot on a SA revolver. Only real men like me and Zed put them on lever guns. Be grateful you still got a butt to hurt. If it were Bruchi, we would have to condemn him straight to butt hurt hell.

Nope. I can't stand him. I like my man crushes fat and soft. Not all ruggedly handsome and mysterious, with sexy Skoal bulges in their sexy, sexy mouths, tattered hats and dark sunglasses on their sexy faces.

    Re: Lever Guns for Self-defense

68 replies to a thread about Lever Guns for Self Defense and no one has mentioned what the sound of a working the lever to chamber a round would have on the BG.

Surely, with all the westerns that have been produced over the years, that sound should be easily recognisable to those bent on evil, the same way that 'cycling' a pump action shotgun will cause even the most hardened criminal to have involuntary bowel motions..........

Whats wrong with you guys? ............................

Edited to add: And how come this didnt generate into a Marlin V Winchester thread?

Anyone ever notice in a lot of the old westerns the gunfighters almost always hit their target with a sixgun shot from the hip but no one ever seemed to be able to hit anything with a carbine?

    No!

OK, maybe, if I can keep anyone but the bad guy from ever seeing it.

That is "The Thing that Should Not Be."

Not saying that a small rail section attached to a barrel band would not be a good idea for a light or laser for a defensive lever action, nut that thing... Just NO.

I think it's pretty cool lookin! Wouldn't mind having one. Although the green lettering on the side kinda make it look like a toy.

At least they didn't put a cross-bolt safety on their gun...

This is what happens when folks start to put Aimpoints on lever guns...

Where is my 9mm lever gun?

    Re: Lever Guns for Self-defense

Nothing wrong with a lever gun. Most are very reliable and accurate, they can be loaded as quickly as a pump action shotgun and are quick to bring up to sight ...especially the carbine models. Also, there's no worry when mags are hard to come by these days. If someone is looking for their first semi-auto and cannot find any due to the political climate I'd without a doubt go for a lever gun chambered in a common pistol cartridge such as .357 or .44mag etc.. Many lever guns in pistol chamberings hold ten rounds. I was at several gun stores this week and all had quite a few levers still available. Might be tough finding pistol rounds however.

Ain't that the dogone truth. Dumbest...Thing...Ever. Tell ya what though, if they'll put that out in .44/.357 mag, I'll be first in line. But in 30 30 I'd have to say, "Hey BG! mind taking 2 steps to your left, don't wanna put a hole in my radiator behind you out there in the drive way. So I'll just wait.

Here is a vid of doing an emergency load of a lever action if you run it dry:

I bet you either HAVE a lever action in your collection, or can find one for sale at non scalper's prices right now. Also, the ammo is probably more available than 9mm/223/45acp/7.62 right now. Not saying it's a better option than an AK/AR, but it is an alternative that we should think about.

I agree and a 30-30 makes a great home defense round. I bet you can whip 7 rounds through a 94 or 336 faster than lightning. Practice is the key. But nothing beats a saddle gun for easy handling. And if you get one of those Yugli Browning BLRs in .308, you can have higher capacity mags. And nobody is looking to cut those. They seem like a harmless hunting rifle(Like a hunting rifle isn't good for killing people? LOL!).

Now tell me, how could any self respecting gun guy hate a sport that had stars named Tiger, Hunter, and Bubba playing in it? Sounds like Golf is Good for our sport.

I'm seriously thinking about a lever action; always liked them and never had one. Maybe one of them Uberti 1876s in .50-90 to celebrate my 50th birthday later this year!

No, it's not jibberish bruch. It's like my wife, when she's trying to talk English but she's pissed off and thinking in Tagalog or Illonggo. She does fine usually but when she gets excited her English turns to Taglish.....

It seems to be a common phenomenom with anyone that's bilingual and speaking in their second language because they grew up thinking in their native tongue.

And no, I'm not saying that you switch to Spanish in mid stream, but it seems to affect the thought process and instead of using the most correct word for the particular situation, you will pick one that's close but not quite right. It is nothing to be ashamed or demoralized over, because English speaking peoples do the same thing when they are speaking a second language. I am half way fluent in German, and I can see how this works first hand. So don't worry about it bruchi, just hold your head high and be proud you can communicate in two languages.
OK Thread Hijack over and back on subject.
