    375 and bigger

    I have been practicing standing at fifty yards worki g the bolt as fast as possible using open sights what are acceptable 4 round groups. I have been able too keep them between 3 and 5 inches is that decent?

    I think if your first shot is right on then that group, fired as you describe is excellent. Howsa 'bout that .323 issue?

    Haven't had time getting some different powder this week and hopefully a few different bullets too work on this week. Just got laid off a d trying too get some stuff worked out also but progress report coming. You and bear tracker will be the first too know as soon as I get too work

    If you are shooting grapefruit sized groups, you're doing more then acceptable for what that 375 was meant for

    Okay buddy, didn't mean to be a pest about it. I practice working my bolt quickly and getting off follow up shots as well. But I sadly don't own a .375 or better.

    Seems to me your groups would be acceptable.

    You could always rig up a release on a slope to let a basketball or smaller roll down towards you from about 100yds away as it will be better than a stationary target. Let it roll the first 25-30 yds to build up speed to approximate a moving animal.

    Might have to do that for myself come to think of it!!! Provided I can find a safe area to set it up with a good backstop....... Might have to make a Trebuchet or similar to launch the ball uphill....

    Sounds like you're planning to hunt something that can come at you in a charge. What quarry is it and what caliber are you using?
    No pistol is foolproof because fools are infinitely resourceful.

    Working on a Cape buffalo hunt and possibly dwarf buffalo. And too orchid an I am working on something similar too practice moving targets but I want too be much closer on buffalo. And I love shooting big guns the bigger the better
