No "perk" working for Midway during this shortage....

Just got a "State of the Business" email from Midway,

This part impressed me. I'll be honest, the thought, "It would be nice working at Midway so I could get _______" has crossed my mind on occasion while looking for a particular bullet, ammo etc. Read this in the email and realized I have a better chance of getting it as a "regular customer" than I would if I worked there,
...Our pricing strategy is one of the reasons we’ve put quantity limits on certain products. We’ve all seen certain products selling two or three times higher than normal, and MidwayUSA doesn’t want to enable that type of activity. Also, we want to serve as many Customers as possible when we receive high-demand products. If it’s any consolation, none of our Employees can order products with quantity limits (myself included). We’ve all agreed to put Customers first. And that’s the way it’ll always be at MidwayUSA...
Kudos to them taking care of their customers first.

Well, this isn't missle science. Larry may be one of the bigger A.. Holes on the planet, but one thing he is is pure business man, who realizes that to keep the business, even in hard times, you have to be incorruptably straight with your clientel.. I believe he is the type that is exactly that way and his word is as good as gold. I don't think I would want to work for Larry because he is just what he looks to be. Buit I'm happy he's here to do business with because I know what I'm getting with him.
I only have YOU guys to blame if things don't work out as planned.

Snake, where did you come up with the information on Larry's personality? Him being "one of the bigger A..Holes on the planet, I'm curious.

I was thinking the same thing. For some reason, I think he is creepy (from his videos) but I have no evidence to support that belief. Their business practices are first rate.

A very respected member here worked for Potterfield, and got summarily dismissed during his first annual performance evaluation. Several of us have had some private insights into the way the man runs his business. If half of what we've been told is true, Midway USA is a sweatshop run by a dictator.

Shootbrownelk, all I meant is he "May be!" I was merly speculating. Then again, he may be the nicest guy since Santa Clause for all I know. But like I say, he is Pure business man, no doubt about that in my view, and he's definitely not a dumb one. And I like doing business with him. I know what I'm getting.

And Teach, sweat shops are usually pretty efficient!!!

I got that same email, I applaud MIDWAY and will do as much of my business as possible with them as well as several other ethical and honest businesses in the future. About the only good thing to come out of the last few months is now we know who to give our business to and who to avoid. I have found several new places to do business with.

Midway has always treated me right and from my end, and they run one heck of a business. As a customer, I am impressed and will continue to do business with them. Working for them-- nothing at all against the forum member or Midway-- it was just a bad match.

As a small business owner and a human, I will say right now that you might like me to do work for you, or be your friend. At the same time, you might hate my guts if I were your boss. It is what it is. My wife, oldest kids, and various family members can confirm that.

Thanks for being honest Jeremy. I think any successful business man would have a similar story. It goes with the territory.

I am not saying that my help hates me, and I try hard to do them right. I'll just say that we sometimes have different goals and I am not there to make friends.

I have been pleased with the way they do business for several years. Those are the only facts I have.

My experience with Midway has always been excellent. I dont' know if Mr. Potterfield is a good guy or not, and I really don't care. I've always gotten good product at fair prices and when something wasn't quite right, Midway made it right "no questions asked" Well, that been my experience: for what it's worth.

I got to hit the road one summer and I am his son. He still knows more about running a buisness that 85% of everyone I have ever worked for or met, or conversed with in any way.
