Scope Report - Bushnell Banner 4x12x40 thumbs down Nikon Buckmasters 4.5x14 thumbs up

Decided to try the new scopes for my favorite 22's.

Bushnell Banner 4x12x40 AO Dusk/Dawn Scope - mounted on my Ruger 10 22 heavy barrel - seemed ok. Fired a couple to see where it was hitting, then went to adjust up, then to adjust right, but the adjustment on side turret indicated up-down instead of left-right. Obviously someone installed another up down knob instead of the correct left right knob, and quality control never caught it either! I put it away and sure hope that Gander Mountain will take it back, since I don't want to have to deal with Bushnell and the time involved.

Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40 - installed on my Win. model 52 22 LR. I like the side focus paralex adjustment feature. No complaints with this scope. Shot well.

Bushnell will never get anymore of my hard- earned coin.

A Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14 AO also compares favorably to the Nikon in price and to my eyes gets a slight edge optically speaking. It's also a smaller scope for applications where that matters.

We have a couple Nikon 4.5-14x40 Buckmasters with Mil-dot and they are great scopes.
