22 LR EBRs, enablers step inside.

Stopped into my LGS last week to see if it really was true. Yup, there was nothing but a big empty spot on the rifle rack where before this gun control crap started there were probably about 25-30 AR15s and AR10s, and even a PS90. They did have a couple 22 ARs, and I was tempted to get one. This week they had a 22 rifle that said ISSC on it, and it looks like a SCAR rifle. It has a neat folding stock with an adjustable comb, but I've never even seen one of these before. I have a choice between this and a S&W mp15-22 for about the same $$$.

I NEED another 22 rifle like I need a hole in my head, but the ones I already have aren't "tactical", and the magazines don't hold enough cartridges to suit me.

I'm sure someone on here owns a smith, but do any of you have the ISSC rifle? And are they worth the 650-700ish asking price, which is about$100 more than the S&W would've been had I bought it last year like I should've.

The ISSC thing I saw at the LGS already had a crack in the stock just from people handling it. In light of this I'd go M&P.

I have a GSG AK-22 that is a lot of fun. And about 1/3 the price of the M&P AR-22. Worth a look if you see one. Takedown is kind of funky; you have to remove the buttstock to disassemble for field stripping.

Good review here with a few comments from owners:

Don't own one but it looks pretty cool!

I would only get one that would match the controls of a fullsize gun that I own. So that it not just looks cool, but serves a training purpose.

So, in otherwords, get it, and also get the SCAR to go with it :)

That is one heck of a big IF these days!

Thanks for the suggestion Mike, but I said "tactical", not "ghetto" I want something that looks like it's on our side of the war. I've just never cared for the AK/SKS look, although I did shoot a friend's (7.62)SKS and they are alot of fun!

The ISSC SCAR clone looks like it would be a constant pain.

    You can get a Slidefire stock for the M&P 15 .22 .

I just bought a Sig 522 this week, great reviews I also bought the Black Dog 50 round drum for it. The S&W M&P15-22 is alright but if you are going to get .22 AR why not just get an upper and have the controls work right?

Back quite a few years ago, Dillon Precision was selling CZ dedicated AR15 .22 LR uppers. I bought one and put it on a spare lower.
I have both East and West 'battle rifles' in .22 LR now!

I own 3 rifles in 22LR, a dedicated 22 AR I use a lot for plinking and to practice for 3 gun matches, a bolt aciton CZ Ultra Lux I use to shoot little groups at 100 yards and I just got what I said I would never do, a 10-22 as when I saw the "break down" model I had to have one and hopefully due to what it is not too many upgrades will be available for it which is what kept me all this time from getting a 10-22.

It is a "new gun" and I have not posted a pic but it is still in the box and it is going to stay there until I can return to the range due to medical reasons so guys cut me a break on the pic, s soon as I get back to shooting I will provide pics and a range report.

I'll cut you some slack but dude for a professional photographer you are one of the worst offenders here with the lack of photos of your guns. Just saying

    I love my M&P 15-22.
Without a doubt, the most FUN gun I've ever owned.

I also love the fact that all of the controls are identical to an AR, this is of course the case with conversion kits as well. However, the other stand alone rifles (colt, mossberg, etc....) have entirely different controls from a standard AR.

The 15-22 is also very reliable I've put upwards of 10k rounds through mine with less than 10 failures that were the guns fault, the rest were just bulk rimfire that didn't have compound in the rim.

    I guess mine's actually an EB/TR!

If you can find one, the HK 416D would be a good choice. Only clone that I know of that has both upper and lower made of metal.

Okay, that's cooler than my 15-22.
I really like the fact that it has a dustcover and F/A.

Went by my local LGS and they had several S&W, with different finishes, a M1 Carbine .22, a H&K MP5A5 and,......dammit.......a H&K 416 D .22...........they always get these things in when I can't spare the cash.

Just remembered, they also had a Uzi .22 clone.
