    Eloi motors

At least someone is trying to do something right. Three wheelers with a good safety record and good mileage. The guy is taking over an old GM plant in Louisiana.

Hmmmm- - - - -I did a double take at the name, and finally figured out the OP misspelled it. The Eloi were the wimpy flower children in H.G. Wells' "Time Machine", the ones the Morlocks used for food. The 3-wheeler's name is spelled E-L-I-O. I originally thought somebody was making a huge joke at the expense of the greenies!

I think I am going to find a way to buy one. I'm not going to lie, I'd have a smart car if they got 84mpg.

The bike will be paid off in may....

I've got an inline 1-liter fuel injected 3-cylinder engine- - - - -in my 94 Geo Metro! It carries passengers, too, and my tool box, and I'm fitting it out with a mobile office for my warranty inspection jobs. 38 MPG ain't bad for a car that cost me less than $3K 6 years ago! It gets driven about 700-1K miles a week with virtually no maintenance, also!

Hmmm... take off the fenders, raise the rear suspension, mudgrip tires, and put an expanded metal rack for the deer, and make a nice hunting buggy for less than a UTV or 4 wheeler.

When they come up used for $1000, I'll take a look.

    Sigh...

If "they" would just stop fooling around with inefficient gasoline engines. Put a diesel in that thing and it'd get 150-ish MPG.

Still, a good concept. Years ago we had a local outfit make the "Corbin Sparrow" all-electric at twice the price.

Looks like fun! If they can produce it at the price they quoted, it should sell well if they can get a dealer network together. I hope the company succeeds just because it is an American company.

Only thing I'm worried about.... Red Robin was a three wheeled car in Britain in the 70s. Take a turn at not very fast speed? It rolls over. Watch Top Gear UK for Jeremy Clarkson's hilarious test drive. That thing did more rolling than driving.

Watch the video. This in stable. The clowns that built the car you're talking about just removed the back axle and added one wheel. Three wheelers can be very stable.

Yeah, but the Robin had the one wheel on the front....seriously no bueno. This one has the two wheels up front, front wheel drive, and front mounted engine.....looks to be very stable.

Check out the Morgan 3-wheeler. The single rear wheel cars have always been very good in the cornering department, even back in the 1930's.

Well, you notice how often you hear about the Can Am Spyders rolling? I've not.

As was already mentioned, it looks like a Spyder with an enclosed cab.

In the '60's, Mechanics Illustrated sold the plans to "marry" a VW front-end with (I think) a Suzuki 650 motor and rear end. That and a little one'off molding and this is what you get. I wanted one then.

Keep in mind, it's not a car. It's a motorcycle. According to the government anyway. Put a small diesel In that thing, and talk about mileage.
That don't confront me, as long as I get my money by next Friday.

Since it is a motorcycle, some states will require drivers/riders to wear helmets. That takes the dork factor up a couple notches.

That is true. But I'm guessing a cop would let that one slide. Or should.

In states such as Florida you will also have to have protective eye wear on. Which is satisfied by sun glasses, but just the idea of legally being able to be ticketed for not having a pair of shades on is kinda
