I get so tired of our throw away society.

I have a Black & Decker scroll saw. Its not that old, maybe 10 years? The whatchamacallit that holds the blade is worn out, and needs replacement. Found out its part # 581190-02, used on B&D, DeWalt, and several other brands - multiple models of each.

Completely unavailable. Supposed to throw away a perfectly good tool and buy another one. Great. The highest wear part on the tool, and you can't replace it...

So.... I actually found one in Great Britain for 8 bucks and change delivered - but I'll be looking at the old one when it comes off to see if I can fabricobble something "next time". I don't care if I have to tighten a set screw or something instead of the drop-in feature this part has. Completely ridiculous...

In other news, the Big Golden Head wants a "Muddy Girl Camo" range bag - not her usual style, but whatever. Its on its way as well...

Zorba, try this place for a replacement part for that scroll saw. I've had good luck with them on appliance repair parts.

    https://www.repairclinic.com/

I checked for that specific part # and they don't have it. And I don't know what your part looks like. Go to their site and look here:

They might have one for another model that will fit your model saw.

Thanx Mike - but I actually found one in Great Britain, and ordered it. Hopefully it isn't vaporware though...

Hopefully it's the real deal. You should bookmark that website I posted, though. They have just about everything repair parts wise, and aren't out of line on pricing, either.
