Went back to high powered ammo today.

.327 and yellow flies do not have a fighting chance, nor do zombie jugs.

Ned, about what size groups are you getting and at about what distance?
I think some of the new guys on here have unrelialistic expectations.
    Zorba in particular.
    My guns all have jobs.
For hunting at 50 yards a group the size of a playing card is plenty.
Same for SD at either 7 or 25 yards.
Anyway that's how I look at it.

I just shoot until all the zombie jugs are dead!

Never more that 2 jugs and sometimes 2 shots unless I find another that some jack wagon dumped out there.

Ha ha. That thing you said about cleaning up after the litter bugs resonates with me.
Since we bought rhis place and I got it set up for shooting, this is the only place I shoot. But back when we drove out to the national Forrest I always took trash bags for just that reason. Busted glass, just all kinds of trash.

    Re: Ned's Shooting Thread

This road in the past did not have a gate and the trash dumped out there was enormous, including a car, it held a lot of plinking tgts.

The National Forest finally cleaned it up and put in the gate in a spot that cannot be driven around by anything short of a tank. Since then it is mostly clean back there.

Over the years, others and I have finished hauling out the rest of the small trash.

I even had a LEO come out to bust me for littering until she figured out I was cleaning up instead.

Most of the stuff I get is dropped by someone walking in, now that the yellow flies are bad there isn't much foot traffic.

I know when I rode ATV's a lot we got a bad rep from the jerks who left their redneck droppings (beer cans, etc.) all over the forest. We made it a policy in our group to haul out more than we took in every time we rode.

Tried 95 gr TC .32 H&R mag today, poor shooting.

Probably because it wasn't hot enough.

I wouldn't wanna be on the wrong end of a gun you were shootin Ned, now I gotta figure out which end is safer

You were shooting pretty good at the SE Shoot, some days just don't pan out no matter how much you try.

Still takes a good shooter like you to hold it and put them in there.

Bought some of that Liberty civil defense, I just have to try it. As written on the box---.45 long colt 78 gr 1800 fps

    So far, it looks pretty.
The bullet tray is put in the box upside down, I suppose to keep dust out or something-----or maybe customers drooling in the HP pocket.

Anyway, I opened the box and dumped ammo on the counter, then looked at some 10mm----dumped that on the counter, too.

    Re: Ned's Shooting Thread

That Liberty ammo is easy on the hand and tears up zombie jugs, probably because of the velocity.

Problem is it shoots 5 inches low in 15 yds as compared to most 250 gr bullets, this tracks with an article I read yesterday, and it is relatively expensive.
A low center mass hit is still good in many opinions offered in gun rags.

For a dedicated gun to this ammo, it is out of my expense account unless I never practice or go plinking.

IMO this ammo in this cartridge must have been made to jump on the judge and clones hype these days; it may have or not merit
in other SD cartridges. I was going to try 10mm and now will pass on that idea as it is reported to shoot low in 10mm, also.

Yellow flies were not bad today, hopefully they are now past their peak.

I used the Blackhawk today. extremely light recoil with that Liberty ammo, it shot low as well.

I noticed lg bullet fragments in one of the half gal jugs for the first time with this ammo and dug a non expanded clogged bullet minus a couple of pedals
out of the pine log used for a tgt stand; it was about 6" into the log exposed across the top surface..

    Re: Ned's Shooting Thread

    I have a solution !!!!!

We take Zorba the Greek, and convert him to heathen Witch Doctor ! exchange his I dream of Jeanie belly dancer harem girl outfit for a Witch Doctor outfit with a bone in his nose !
We then make him the Official forum SE shoot Witch Doctor !
We then change his name officially to King Erooku O'Roolo the first, then establish him as first National Church of Witch Doctoring, Granny Clampete founder.....

That low impact as compared to point of aim isn't unusual at all when shooting a light for caliber bullet. It's a function of bullet dwell time in the barrel. A light bullet has low dwell time and exits early in the recoil cycle and hits low; a heavy bullet exits later in the recoil cycle and hits higher(point of aim with sight setting). Now you know that that ammo hits low, you can adjust your aim high and LET 'ER RIP!

Sure, but, at the price, I'll get something that has the same POA for solids or HP; esp, for 45 long colt.

I have less than a cylinder full left, so watch out zombie jugs.

Kind of voodoo for projectiles, super light alloy rounds, bismuth or copper etc, I don't buy into that koolaide....

I'm done with that liberty ammo, while it was fun; a 250 gr GDHP goes to POA and splashes water from a jug, too.

30 bucks fer 20# OMG GD ammo is expensive for 45 Colt. Real Gold in it???

About 30 bucks I think fer 100 bullets to reload so if you reloaded you could save about 60-70%.

Any other forum members nearby who could load you some Gold Dot ammo? They sell GD bullets for .327/.357/.45 ACP/9mm/.44 too.

    I thunk I got a 100 or more GD .44 cal bullets 200 grainers I believe.
