I be a pirate, sort of...

Long story short: I told Wambli on Facebook that I'd post a Pirate pic of me with my new eye patch. So to avoid the fine...

Back story of the eye patch... In 2015 I was diagnosed and treated for rare type of Glaucoma. Things have progressed nicely since then and all was great.

Fast forward to March 1, 2017 and on the return flight from New Orleans i started having eye pain again. I really didn't think anything of it since it eventually went away until a week later. The pain/pressure came back with a vengeance accompanied with nausea and extreme light sensitivity. Driving at night is a big no no for now. I got the eye patch to help block out light to the eye.

The doctor said we caught it early and she is taking an aggressive approach. It is an uncommon form of Scleritis https://www.aao.org/eye-health/disea...t-is-scleritis. I don't know if it is the disease or the medicine, but in addition to the previously mentioned symptoms, I am now looking through a heavy white fog in the eye.

Instead of withdrawing and just coping with it, I'm trying to approach it with a sense of humor. Thus the Pirate hat and eye patch picture. And before CPJ says it, I don't think Rosy and her five friends were responsible for me going blind in the eye, at least not yet anyways.

And yes, it is my dominant eye. So I may need to learn to shoot with the other eye & hand. It's either that or sell off my Gus collection, which isn't likely to happen.

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel in his pants. The bartender says "excuse me, do you realize you have a steering wheel in your pants? "
The pirate says "Aye! It's driving me nuts!"

Hope your eye gets better. And stop the wanking. You'll go blind in the other eye.

Kid goes to school one day wearing an eyepatch. Teacher asks him why?
Kid says "I am a pirate'
Teacher asks him "Where are your Buccaneers"
Kid replies " Under my Buccan hat, are you blind?"

Glaucoma? You are faking it so you can smoke pot, right?

Get better. That sucks, but a good sense of humor will help it heal faster

Get that eye fixed soon, Harry! Keep an eye on the situation and it will be better before you can blink. And if T gives you a hassle about leaving the lid up, just give her a few lashes.

(BTW, I am *desperately* trying to come up with an Ian Anderson reference, but I'm not seeing anything...)

Definitely sounds like you've got a good attitude about it and you sure do look like a darn fine pirate! Hey just an excuse to work on your offhand shooting!!!

Hope your eye gets more better and the doc can get you back to no eye patch.
Cool eye patch and hat, BTW!

Regarding shooting pistolas with the non dominant eye, I have to do that if I intend to hit what I'm shootin' at, and it's easy. I'm right handed and left eye dominant. Just shift your stance a little with right side slightly further back than the left, move pistol to the left until left eye gets a good sight picture, and fire away. No need to change hands, just change pistol position for the eye to get the sight picture. Shooting a rifle from the off side will take a bit of practice, though, but not as much as you'd think. Just have to train the 'new' trigger finger.
