    Not another one!

I was so sure my wife would understand this purchase. She was so happy when I recently sold off four older rifles, then she makes nasty faces when I buy another little pistol.

This nice little S&W 469 is being sold by a retired LEO my local gun guy is friends with. I always liked the all metal S&W semi-autos, never did take to their striker fired polymer jobs though. This 469 is one of the few that came with a hammer spur. I have a well worn 459 service pistol that always makes me smile and this compact version will make for a nice carry pistol.

Not too shabby looking for an older service pistol.

Hey, you need to tell her that if she keeps complaining, you'll get 3 more guns to replace the ones you sold.

Hey, that's what I carry. I bought my 469 new in 1981 in a package deal with a 94 AE 30-30 together for about $300 and some change. I feel the 469 S&W was an underrated pistol. Mine is more accurate than me and handles nicely.

Just introduce her to Wambli reduction math. She will say that getting one for 4 is wonderful.

One thing I notice about this 469 purchase is that it sports a hammer spur, when every other 469 I've seen came with a bobbed one. I wonder if someone installed a hammer from a 459 to obtain a spur?

    Re: Not another one!

I don't know about the hammer, but it looks unusual. I've had two of these. When they came out, the selling point (one of them) was that they were so compact you could cover them with your hand. Which you could if you fudged a little bit.

A good gun, very lightweight at the time. I toted one for several years as a duty gun.

Back before single-stack small guns were in the mainstream, some company shortened Model 39 autos into carry guns with a shorter barrel and a smaller handle.

I've got a 39, which when I bought it was in questionable shape outside. I had it cerrocoated and now it looks pretty good. I don't remember if I ever shot it, but it does have a hammer spur.

    Re: Not another one!

I picked up the 469 yesterday. I think it was well worth $325. Floyd my gun guy said it belonged to a retired Illinois trooper and from the looks of it, spent most of its duty in a sock drawer.

While at the LGS, I put another shooter on hold till further gun funds clear. A nice little .357 Mag, SP101 with a 3'' barrel will fit nice in my stable.

At home, after disassembly, I ran the already clean 469 through the ultrasound for chits and giggles. Except for some edge wear and slight finish rub, she's hardly worn and ready for trials.
