    Guess who came to visit?

How often do you get to meet your friends when they fly into town in a Blackhawk Helicopter?

Our own SS3 flew into the Opa Locka Airport today on a training run and we had lunch. I have to say t was pretty cool watching him land and take off...

    The bird:

    SS3 and his co-pilot

They even let me look inside...

And if you can stand the 1 minute and 46 seconds I even made a little video...

Thanks for coming to town Matt!

At least he did not prang it on the tarmac!

But, there was a gap in the video.

Re: Guess who came to visit?

Having someone show up in one of those would be a neat experience. Glad you and Matt could get together for some vittles and face time. Matt is tall, but you make him look short!

I hear from my friends that were in the Army that they had two favorite helicopters; the gunships and the medevac units. Most of my friends who were in the Army were VN vets, and said the favorite one to show up depended on whether you were or weren't wounded. Grunt humor is strange. Most of my friends are strange, anyway. Next door neighbor was a Marine in a rifle company in VN; he was the M-60 machine gunner. He's got some strange stories from over there.

    Pretty cool job.

Still bewilders me how they keep them Whirlybirds in the air and bring them back to Earth when they want to.

    Too cool.

I've flown on many a Blackhawk. I'd fly with SS3 anyday.

Me too. I think he should just fly that into Jerrys. We will gladly clear a landing zone. Unless of course, he's too much of a wussy to steal a helicopter.

BigDanS is definitely a tall boy! Very cool pics and video. Learning to fly a helicopter is at the very top in my bucket list.

And take us up for some aerial shooting, but he would have to be a cool kid to do that.

He will need to swipe a mini gun also. I ain't riding in a helicopter just to shoot an AR out the door.

Cool. Ss3 I have not seen a nose like that on a Blackhawk. It looks like it fits over the normal nose. Is that for aerodynamics, or electronics, or both?

I realize after I tell you this, that those same helicopters will soon be hovering over my house. But it has to be told.
The nose is where they keep the mind control machine.
Now if you will excuse me, I have to buy some more tin foil.

    Guess who came to visit?

Thanks for coming out Dan. As always it's great to meet with forum members and shoot the breeze a bit! It beats sitting in the office by a long shot.

As a side note, I forgot how stark the contrast between general/corporate/military aviation is when compared to standard commercial aviation until Dan commented on how baffled he was to be able to walk right out to an aircraft without getting strip searched... Which also leads me to wonder why he gets strip searched.

Hey Matt, I suspect there's enough cleared space on top of the hill, why bother riding with Eli?
