range time with a new toy

I had to patch a little fence today and the weather is nice so I took the AR that I had put together to see if it functioned and to sight it in. I didn't have a lot of time so not much for a setup, just leaning on the bota. I had no failures except 1 that I am sure was a messed up reload that got past the inspector, the case mouth was folded back in one spot and couldn't go in the chamber. I have not had one before so nothing to compare it to, the red dot is not the best for bench shooting but I was beginning to get the hang of it. 20170318_173920_resized.jpg

Nicely done! I always say range days are the best. Making your own range day...even better!

Now I have a question. How often do you need to clean an ar? Anything special I need to look at? I ran around 80 rounds or so today. I had to clean the outside since I fixed fence first I managed to bleed on it.

When it's too dirty to function. I kept the bolt well oiled on mine. After I didn't, and had a round that failed to chamber completely and the bolt stuck. A little love, some cussing, and some Chapstick made a field expedient repair.

Good job. Even though its just putting pieces together, it feels good when your finished and it functions well. Goof Job
