What does your normal carry weigh?

I was outside doing a few things and came inside to flip some meat...my scale was out, and I decided to weigh my current carry, a Ruger P-85, 9mm with 15 rounds...coyotes, ya know... I had a hard time with the numbers...fully loaded it is 40.04 ounces...no wonder my wrists get worn out. Never even thought about it until today...well, with spring like weather approaching, I can revert to the CZ-50 or Grendel P-12...

Mine weighs about 3 lbs. It's what I carry... regardless of weather.

Edited to add: it's 2 lb., 13.6 oz., so just 2.4 oz shy of 3 lb.

25oz empty if I carry the UltraCarry and 2oz more if I carry the Pro. Both Kimber 1911s.

Not enough to make me leave it home.

ETA: A quick search tells me it will weigh ~ 40oz loaded with the ammo I use.

My S&W 469 9mm with a full magazine of 12 Winchester Home and Defense 147 Grain JHPs weighs 2.1 pounds (or if my math is close, about 34 oz.).

Whatever, it fits my hand better than about anything handgun wise I've ever shot and the weight is not excessive. For me it carries right nice.

Re: What does your normal carry weigh?

25oz. - 30oz., depending on whether I carry a 9mm Shield or XDs.45...plus whatever an extra loaded mag weighs.

I used to carry a 13+1 XD for about 12 hours a day, and wore suspenders to keep my britches up. But, I got tired of having back-aches after a couple years, and started my quest for the perfect subcompact. I never found one that fit all of the criteria that my full-sized, polymer framed and striker fired XD did, but I did find 2 single stack pistols that fit my needs well enough to justify the switch, for every day carry situations. If I'm ever dumb enough, or desperate enough to walk into a gunfight that I know is going to happen, I'll swap to full sized pistols (if I can't have a long gun).

I just slapped mine on my 25# Sausage Scale. Wish I had a digital scale but this is an old fashion spring scale so it's not exact, but within a couple ounces I would guess.

Most of mine (Glocks, 1911's, .357's) except for the S&W 36 (~24 oz) are in the 30-39oz weight range (loaded), but the S&W is rarely carried as a primary piece.

I do occasionally carry one of my 29's, and those are closer to 49 oz's loaded.

A good belt, and quality OWB holster make any of them (except maybe the 29's) almost unnoticeable IMO.

The gun is 10.5 ounces + whatever 7 rounds of .380 ACP weighs + an ounce or so for the nylon pocket holster + probably just around a pound. Which is right at my limit. When that feels heavy, I carry the NAA Mini which tops out, loaded and holstered, at about half that.

Hey, I also have to carry a wallet, keys, cell phone, reading glasses, pen - ENOUGH ALREADY! I'm a Gentleman, not a donkey.

16 ozs. dry, throw in one in the chamber and a 7 rd. pinkie grip mag and I'd say around 18.......18 1/2.

34.5 ounces with 15 rounds in the 17 round mag.The last two are a real pain to load.

1.6 pounds. I have been using this pistol, because it's one of the lighter ones.

I can't remember who started this thread, and I'm too damn lazy to look back, but I'm glad they did. It gave me an opportunity to compare different guns. And happily mine turned out to be about average for a EDC. After reading through all the responses I feel more satisfied with my EDC now. In other words, this thread may have kept me from spending some money.

My favourite one weighs 2,5 grams. But it is a miniature that a have made myself, I carry it as a keychain. It works and shoots real steel bullets, but, of course, I don't recommend to use it for self defence
