Zorba has a point... derringers were made for just such an occaission. Perhaps you need to consider a single or double shot Bond Arms for dressy carry.

Those are in .38 / .357 and would be a handful.

There are .22 magnum options from North American arms, but they are not derringers...

Cobra makes a .22 magnum derringer.

And finally, you could go classic with a Baby Browning. I recently sold one of these... great little gun and easily hidden anywhere.

All of those are damn near as big or bigger as say a Ruger or keltec 380. The NAA revolvers are smaller, but one of those in .22 LR is totally worthless. I'll take a knife over that gun any day

All you need now is a garter belt to go with it.

This is the gun I carry when I absolutely have no other carry option. It's a S&W model 61 "Escort". Weatherby's magic nose found one in basically mint condition with box and accessories and was then nice enough to pass it along to me knowing I wanted one for sentimental reasons. There are fine examples for sale out there.

This is the gun my dad wore under his scrubs at the hospital while working the OR and its the most concealable gun I own. Lightning fast to get 6 accurate .22 LR shots out and a reload weighs nothing. I think it would be easy to carry one of these in the thigh area even in tight dress and it sure beats screaming like the kid in Home Alone. I was going to say screaming like a girl but it seemed inappropriate

If you can find one of these in .22 Mag. it's the most concealable hideout gun I can think of.

The grip panels are only there for cosmetics. Remove them and it really gets skinny. My gunsmithing mentor carried one like that all day, every day, with a couple of extra cartridges loose in a pocket. He also had a barely-legal 12 gauge double barrel in the trunk of his car, with four extra rounds of low-recoil 00 buck in an elastic buttstock carrier. He called the shotgun his "Civil Rights" gun- - - - -"It protects my civil rights!"

Honestly, the little black dress emphasizes your femininity, and therefore, your vulnerability. When you wear it, you have already laughed in the face of one of the first rules of self defense, i.e. - don't look like a victim. Practice kicking off your high heels and running like a deer.

Don't get me wrong. It looks great and I love to see pretty young women dressed that way, but you can't carry a concealed weapon without breaking up the beautiful 'lines' that you were trying to achieve by dressing that way. Get your escort to stick your snub-nosed .38 in his off-side pocket so you can reach in and get it, if necessary, while he's going for his own carry preference.

Lol, not inappropriate Wambli. I am a girl and can scream with the best of them lol. Something like that may be doable in a thigh holster, a garter type that matches my dress. I like that, and even if it were to show, you probably wouldn't notice.

I am a young woman bisley, and like every other girl, I love girl things and expressing my feminine side. I am vulnerable by the fact that I am a small female, and even with a firearm that won't change. I love short skirts, little dresses and heels too. That will never change. I like how I look and feel, and enjoy when I know that guys like what they see. I work hard to have the body I do, but refuse to make my appearance a downfall. I am very conservative in how I dress when I am alone, being a rape victim changes you. When I wear those outfits I am with Jason and his coworkers and wives. He would have no problem carrying for me, but that still makes me unprepared. The point of my post is how hard it is for women to carry. The smoothe soft lines make it hard to hide that "third bump" in the front of my dress lol.

Ask Jack Ruby about that. With that said and speaking of knives, how about something like this:

You could try to ask Bobby Kennedy about getting hit with a .22 LR, but I doubt if you'd get an answer.

No doubt a .22 will kill. But, as CPJ pointed out many of the options in .22 that have been presented have a firearm of similar size in a more potent caliber, or are just kinda hard to employ.

Zorba I think you have Ruby's gun confused with Sirhan Sirhan who shot Bobby Kennedy with a .22 revolver.

Getting back to the topic on hand, I wonder if SigGal could strap a .410 shotgun to the inside of her leg?

    Barrel down, of course.

In a NAA mini revolver the .22 LR is worthless.
    A. Unless it's drawn, cocked and ready, I'll have you gutted like a trout before you can draw, point in my general direction and fire.
    B. If you beat me, I'll take my chances being shot with one. A .22 LR fired from the short barrel loses a LOT. Like it only puts a dent in a 55 gallon drum.

I know, I know...it's a gun forum. However, might miss SIGgal consider a powerful pepper spray?

I've seen some the size of a lipstick tube.

Just a thought...I prefer a gun, but do avail myself to other options, as does my better half. (Okay, better 7/8s...LOL!)

I have one in my purse, but would like to carry something more effective for protection. The size of pepper spray is very regulated here, and it isn't the good pepper spray either

    Re: Female concealed carry options?Ok

Vacuum-fitted clothes are really going to cut into your options for carrying other than what I call "nasal inhaler" pistols (you stick them up their nose and hope to clear their sinuses). You're wearing stuff that is intended to enhance certain bulges. As others have said, dress for the gun, don't gun for the dress.

I'd be looking at the current crop of .380 and 9mm locked breech semi autos like the Glock 42 and 43, Springifled XDs, the Ruger LCP, S&W Bodyguard .380, etc. . . Most of the older blowback designs like the PPK are a lot less fun to shoot, but if you can find an old Colt 1903/1908 pocket hammerless, they're thin and very nice shooters.

The Glock 42, loaded with flat-nosed FMJ's, is probably your best compromise between something that's super-little, while being big enough to grip and shoot effectively. The 43 is a little bigger, but throws a package that's got enough steam to still penetrate effectively after switching up to hollowpoints. Thing is with Glocks, you NEED some kind of holster that covers the triggerguard - jamming them into belts and other straps is not a good idea.

Small-of-back carry is one possible option for girls - you have the curve where your back ends and your butt starts that could effectively conceal something with a short jacket. But that's the problem - you're probably trying to find a jacket short enough to show off your butt, but long enough to hide the pistol.

Purse carry is an option, but not one I'm crazy about. Purses are separate from you, easily separated from you, and they are a common thing for criminals to try to grab.

Knives are WELL worth considering, IF, like handguns, you're willing to learn how to use one properly. Since you seem to like that exercise nonsense anyway, spending some of that time on martial arts would not be wasted.

Best option is probably to get married, tie your man down with a couple of kids, gain 30-40 pounds, stop worrying about what you wear, and pack a handgun that's socially significant.
