The Ruger looks really sharp. Everyone says the 480 shoots softer than the 454.
I will be living through you on this and the 500
I miss my 460XVR. The buddy I sold it to told me the other day he'd sell it back to me if I wanted it back. Don't have the funds for it right now. It is a huge revolver, but easy shooting compared to the same cartridge in the Encore.

The big X-Frame Smiths don't do it for me. Too expensive and gawdy for me.

I agree. I got mine for a good deal. They're out there. People that buy one, fire a few rounds and realize it's a bit much for them. Mine was the performance center. Think I got it for just over $1000. Sold it for $975. A 6 pound revolver is a big, gawdy gun. That's for sure. But surprisingly pleasant to shoot. Had 300 grain XTPs going 2000 fps out of it. And not painful to shoot.

I prefer the 500 in a 4" to the 460 in 8-10-12 whatever it was.
    I LOVED the .500 AAMOF.

Nice shooting, pretty revolver. You are in mighty good shape for big game, when the opportunities come. If not, you can still wear out deer and hogs with something fun to shoot.
