Neat design. I question how steady the top
And rest would be with the way they are attached. If I didn't already have a portable bench, I'd make something similar.

Looks pretty good to me. My range is in a gully, or the base of the apalacian mountains here. It gets very windy here, and I'm thinking these tables will not hold up to the wind. Our benches are all 2"x4"s and pretty permanent. I would definitely like to make them and try one.

I have one that's similar....plenty steady once I get my sandbags on it and plant my ass on the little seat....also readily converts for left handed shooters...

Looks good...I have a bench from TowerStools in Faith SD that I would trade for nothing.

I'm looking at making a compact, portable bench to take to the SE shoot. I have a solid bench at home but we only have a 100yd range and when I get a chance to shoot at longer ranges, I want to capitalize on it. Last year at Jerry's, I was having so much fun shooting longer distances that I probably spent more time on CPJ's bench using Jerm's rest than they did. Next time I plan to have my own bench and rest. I'm looking for something that folds up small as I already tote a bit of stuff up there.

Harbor freight sells a folding work bench similar to the one I used for my bench. It's not near as heavy made as mine, but mines a black and decker from the 1970's. But it should be stiff enough once you put a solid top on it. Also jamming the feet into the dirt steadys even mine up a LOT. I had considered putting some pointy feet on mine.

    Here's the bench.

Looks kinda flimsy, but I'm guessing one could add some support to it.

My new neighbor who bought the 65 acres adjoining our place has set up a 600 yard range with a permanent shooting platform that's built like a bridge- - - - -about 10 X 20 feet of it! I'm hoping he will make it available to us at next year's shoot!

If you can find an original Black & Decker Workmate bench, it's on the same design but much sturdier. I use one at the York shoot with a 2X3 foot plywood top clamped into the built-in vise to hold my shooting box and act as a stand-up rifle rest during "range cold" times.

Just looked- - - - -there are several of them on Ebay, new and used.

I'd like to make something as stout as the one that Farmboydeuce took a couple of years ago but a little smaller and with folding legs.

That would be nice. Then we could have one for the adult sized people and cpj's for the children.

The top of mine was just an arbitrary size that decided on based on my wants and more importantly the material I had on hand. Folding legs would be doable, it would just take some figuring to make a repeatable solid mechanism.

I used threaded materials because I had them on hand or could procure them for cheap. Basically I took two or three different designs I saw on the web or YouTube and adjusted them to my materials and know how.
