What powders do you use most for reloading?

Looked through my load notebooks this morning and noticed a decided trend in loads as to what powders I use most. Decided I must be an old school curmudgeon as to powder choices.
Most used:
IMR 3031, 4350,4064, 4198
Hodgdon 4350, Clays, Universal Clays, International, Lil' Gun
Accurate Nitro 100, No. 9, No. 5, No. 7, and No. 2
Hercules Red Dot

Most (at least 95%) of my rifle loads are with the IMR powders. Most of my pistol plinking loads are with the Hodgdon Clays, and I have WAY more shotshell loads for Hercules Red Dot than the Hodgdon powders. I guess I found what worked for me and stopped looking.

I've used about all of the slower to mid range IMR powders with great luck. I've also used some Hodgdon powders with excellent results. I have even used Winchester 760 Ball powder and liked it for what I used it for (Don't remember at the moment and don't have my old loading books anymore). But I have recently gotten me some Varget and some Aliant Reloader 17. Haven't tried them yet, but I just finished a term of school and I will take a leave of absense this term because the last class I need isn't being offered this term. That's the end of the hunt for me and I'll have a bachelors of Science in Legal studies. I'm already signed up for it in September, but until then I'm free at last! So I'll be doing some loading and shooting soon. I want to try the Reloader 17 in my .250 Savage and the Varget in everything. I also will try some BLC-2 in my .223 courtesy of beartracker's advice. I'm going to have some quality R&R for the next 10 weeks and Reloading will figure heavlily into that.

Just started reloading again so I decided to try and keep it simple and keep the powders to a minimum. So far I use IMR 3031 for the 45/70, .303, 7.7 Jap and 7.63 Argentine. Unique for the .45Colt, .44, 38/357, and .455 Webley. As soon I get some .284 brass I'll get some IMR 4350.

H4350, RL22, Ramshot XTerminator, RL7. This covers everything from elk to pdogs and BR comp. The XTerm and RL7 could be interchangable if necessary, so I could get by very well for all my rifle chamberings with only 3 powders.

I don't load enough handgun to speak of, but IIRC, I have a pound or two of H110.

Varget.... Goes for just about all mil-sup rounds, .220 Swift
H322.... Goes for the .223 rem

I'm sure there are better powders for each particular load but I'd hate to have as many powders as I have die sets.

WW-231- I've tried a lot of different powders in these rounds but I keep coming back to 231.

H-322-52-53 grain bullets and my guns love this combo.

H-414/W-760- Same 52-53 grain bullets= one hole

Trail Boss=Best accuracy out of a .45 Long Colt

IMR-4831- Light load favorite, fills the case.

Promo/ Red Dot- Used to shoot PB. Price and availability made the change

I am going off memory here and we all know how that works anyway;

I used Unique for .38, .357, 9mm .40

I used Unique and Universal clays for 12ga.

I used the BL-2C for the .223 and Beartracker is right Its GOOOOD for the .223 fired it both my mini-14 and an AR-15 works flawlessly!!!!!!

I used the H110 for the .357 maximum I used to have.

I used the Winchester 296 for the first .270, but switched to IMR 4895

For rifle I use more Varget than anything, followed by H380, W760, 3031, and RL17.
For target handgun, I use W231 and Trailboss. Midrange handgun gets a lot of Unique; and magnum handgun gets H110 and something I'm suprised I have'nt seen on here, 2400.

I'm old school when it comes to reloading, and I like powders that work well with multiple cartridges.

Handguns:

90%+ of my handgun reloading (based on number of rounds) is either W231 or Unique, with Bullseye a distant 3rd. I'll use H110 or 2400 for heavy 45 Colt loads.


Rifles:

I don't own any magnums, so medium to slow powders work for my rifles. I mostly use IMR 3031, 4064, 4895, 4320, or 4350. I do occasionally load magnum cartridges for other people, and use either flavor of 4831 for those.

They say you don't always get the magnificent gains from it but in certain calibers and loads you do and I would like to check around and see what I can do with 30-06, .270, and .280. If I can get two-three hundred FPS with a 180 Grain bullet in the 30-06, that make it for all practical purposes, a Magnum. The Same with the other two mentioned, .270 and .280. That puts them up there with the 7 Mag.
