Deer are in their feet, time to bow hunt

Went out this morning and whiffed a nice eight pointer. Around 830 he came by and I shoot a fallen tree underneath him. Here’s a couple pictures I pulled from the camera as I sulked back to the truck.

Your heart beat will echo like a ships engine room if you draw down on him from bow range.

Very nice Kansas buck....are there others in the area with similar shaped racks? Most of the bucks in my little part of KS grew high, narrow racks...a few miles east you saw wider racks..

We have 7-8 like him on the lease, but I think they're allergic to daylight. You see 'em on the game cams but come sun up they're gone.

He was by himself, the little bucks are chasing like crazy. Old timers are saving energy for when the ladies are more receptive. This was the fattest buck I’ve ever collected, had to dig through fat to get to the tenderloins.

That looks like a good one to me. I saw a buck following a doe this morning on the way to work. As late as they are starting this year there may be some activity still going on during rifle season.

No I won’t score any until they are bigger than the 2004 deer.

I think he has real long arms, the funny part is the deer ran to the guy in the neighboring stand to be stuck again. Shane was very disappointed when he saw the prior hole in the buck’s side. That buck fills my little shed with his length, he is hanging from the rafters with his nose touching the ground.

Shane killed an eight pointer this morning, was not in the class of the other deer but body wise produced a lot of good meat. He saw three other bucks this morning and a bobcat. Of the three hunters from South Carolina only Michael didn’t fill a tag. Today was the last day of hunting for them and they are headed home now.
