Ruger 6.5 claims first Horny victim

Well Sunday morning proved to be a good day to be in the woods, deer are rutting like crazy here, and we're seeing it because it's actually kinda chilly here this year, so we're calling it the best rut we've actually seen in years! This dude was 6.5 years old and quite the handsome buck in my opinion! When I shot him all I knew was he was mature and a shooter. I'm one of those that depends on optics while in the stand..... I keep Binos glued to my eyes if I can see over 100 yards and am hunting a travel corridor like a Pine plantation, Gasline or Powerline. Most hunters that do not, would have seen this deer two seconds before he chased this Doe into an 8 year old clearcut and possibly vanished.
I saw her coming quartering towards me from left to right through the pines about 300 yards away 40 yards from entering the over grown cutover, I immediately went behind her to find the source of her panic and saw him and horns! I dropped the Binos went to the gun and whistled as loud as I could through my teeth and she did exactly what she's supposed to do, that rut crazed bucks sometimes won't do..... She stopped to investigate, that will to survive overode the impending rape lol. She stopped and looked straight towards my Box, I moved off her 5 yards behind her and there he stood wondering why she wasn't running from his advances any longer. I put the Dot right on the point of his right shoulder where his neck and shoulder joined and the little 6.5 Creedmoor 129gr Interbond eat and it absolutely crushed him!!!
He was 6.5 like I said and 228lbs, had nearly run all the fat off of himself at this point. Base of neck measured 23 inches! He's gonna get a spot in the trophy room!

I'm starting to like that little rifle!!

Thanks guys! I didn't pull the trigger on a Deer last year! 2016 was first year since 1984 I hadn't killed a deer and that's when I started hunting! It's been nice to not be soooo busy anymore!

A 6.8 would have killed him deader
