Good for them! Pretty soon the South will have all the manufacturing plants for firearms! New York just lost more tax revenue, jobs, and its about time!

I read that you're also getting a new auto plant for two makes of Japanese autos, too. Can't remember the ones, but one is, I think, Mazda. They are going to share the same plant space, so it should offer a LOT of good paying jobs down there. That should help drive the unemployment numbers in AL down a notch or three!

Troy is only a couple of hours from here, I wonder if they'll have a factory outlet?

Manufacturers are leaving NY State so fast that they're causing all that cold air to be sucked down South with them!
It's a big deal right now in NYC and NY State. All those jobs, and massive tax revenues, leaving in droves. They are going to be hurting like California before long. Even TAXachusetts is feeling the pain of manufacturers leaving.

    Re: Kimber coming to Alabama

Maybe now they won't say Yonkers, NY on them.

Personally I wish the state would stop recruiting industry. They don't build the infrastructure required or often keep the promises made. Remington was supposed to get a rifle range at the expense of the county but they claimed after the fact not to have the money.

Now they are set to announce a Toyota/Mazda plant up here, 4000 jobs building 300,000 cars a year. More trucks on the roads that can't support them. I suspect it will be built by the Toyota engine plant which I have to drive by every day. Right past the plant it turns into a windy two lane that is posted no trucks. Think that stops them? Screw progress.

I'm all for companies ditching NY and other commie states. Maybe (but probably not) they'll learn a lesson or two about chasing away your taxpayer base. It's unfortunately that apparently AL isn't keeping up infrastructure wise, but hopefully in the next decade they'll catch up.

Happily, the Toyota/Mazda plant will be built in the next county, land Huntsville annexed. There will still be added traffic on not enough roads. I swear during rush hour, there are more TN. cars on the roads then AL.

For those that have by there, it's out by the new Larry's. Much closer to the airport and intermodal shipping.

How are they losing something they never had. The article said it's building a plant there not relocating headquarters.

It makes me sad to see you post statements like this because I like Alabama even though I don't live there and I have been all over the state and the demographic varies quite a bit according to the location.

Rural South Alabama and B'ham drags the rest of the state down. There is more high tech in North Alabama then many entire states, including VA. This state builds everything from cars to missiles to rockets to go to the moon. From my office I can see a Saturn V rocket and companies like Boeing, Lockheed, Northup Grumann, Sikorsky and many more. Every Toyota truck engine is made here, they seem to work pretty well. Bezos is building a rocket plant here. I work I the second largest research park in the country and much of your internet and cell data goes through something we built. Make an idiotic statement and you deserved to be called out.

Those of us that live in awesome places need to stop trying to convince other people it's awesome. You end up with a bunch of Californians and Yankees moving in.

    Don't be like Florida.

Oh, and for those who don't know or can't perceive it: this post was made by a multi-generational Native Floridian, and done entire in jest, so it's a little thing called "a joke." That's also why I pup the tooth and the troll icons up.

Some day I want to go fishing with Alpha. He's one of the best ones we have here on the forum, judging by how many folks bite at the bait he blatantly throws out there.
