    Serial # on Colt revolver

I can only find it on the cylinder crane and frame after I open the cylinder on my Colt Official police in .22 LR. Is it anywhere else on the revolver?

It's a 3 digit (XXX) SN and under 200. I looked it up and it appears it was made in 1930 the first year of production.

On the really old Colts those are assembly numbers. The serial number is usually on the bottom of the grip like on these.

That's where my 1892 has it.

I have a Colt Officers Model Special that belonged to my grandfather. Its in the 78XXXX range and the serial number is only found on the crane, and frame where the crane meets when closed. Proofhouse puts it in 1949. never seen one with a 3 digit sn. That's pretty neat.

    You know a .327 on a model 13/19 K framed S&W would be a good idy!

I know the .327 is not your thing, but, it is ok in the 7 shot GP 100; really no recoil unlike the SP 101.

But, there are a lot of guns available I would not buy either; though that 1917 .45 acp might be nice to have, but, I already have 2 revolvers that shoot that rnd.

But, enough on .327, this is about Colt.
