Gonna be out of touch for a few days.

Indeed, there are those among my (legions of) detractors who collectively assert that I've been out of touch for decades, if not generations! But I digress. Heading up to the NJ pine barrens to do some 4-wheeling for a couple of days with like-minded delinquents all driving 4Runners. Scared half to death. My truck has Yokohama Geolander H/T-S tires on it; these are plain Jane street tires, not even all-terrains. If I hit any deep mud, my truck's going to turn into a submarine! I've multiple tow hooks front and rear, and I just bought a tow strap with steel hooks on both ends, but I feel under-equipped, nonetheless.

I've learned that Toyota's marketing scheme is identical to Harley-Davidson's, to wit: your truck will never ever ever be exactly the way you want it. There will always be (at least) one more thing that your truck "needs," at prices that would make strong men weep. Cynical bastards.

Along about Monday morning I'm leaving NJ and schlepping across PA to spend T'Day with relatives in Pittsburgh. I've been promised a little turkey hunting on private land, meaning I don't have to buy a PA hunting licence, thereby saving around $120. Prolly be home a week from this coming Monday, but in the meantime I'll be w/o computer or cell phone.

Having a great and Happy Thanksgiving, good people! Later

Have a great time, Vic! Get that Yota dirty, muddy, grungy! And bust a turkey up side the head with a load of little lead pellets, too!

Where are you hunting, Fayette Nam?

Don't get caught because you legally DO need a PA hunting lic. private land or not. The PAGC does not take kindly to poaching and they are getting serious about it $$ wise. It isnt a slap on the wrist anymore.

Hunting on my cousin's grandmother's farm, somewhere NW of P'b. He sez I don't need a license, but he also said that if I took any harvested game to a game butcher for cutting up, said butcher would demand to see a tag of some sort. Cousin says he can butcher up any turkeys that hurl themselves in front of our sights, and he has a buddy who can carve up Bambi's daddy, should he be so indiscreet as to show himself while I'm........um.......cleaning my rifle....(!). I personally really have no idea what the law is, so I do indeed intend to be very discreet.

Wait a minute! See me Sunday? Christ, were we supposed to be doing something on Sunday? Please refresh my rapidly failing memory. A few of the 4Runner delinquents are going to stay up in the Pine Barrens on Sunday to do still more 4-wheeling, and have invited me, the club newbie, to stay and participate. But if i had my druthers, I'd rather hang with Forum members than mud-crawlers and bottom dwellers. Please don't tell them I said that. Pls advise soonest, because I hope to be on the road by 1 PM Friday.
