Buying stripper AR lowers a good idea in case a ban comes along?

Meaning if you can find any at reasonable prices, will the rest of the required parts for a build be available or is there any chance they will become hated paperweights?

Lowers are the only part with a serial number. To get one it must come through someone with an FFL and you'll have to fill out a 4473 because it is considered a firearm. Same thing happened when the MAC 10 was outlawed in original form. You could buy a lower on a MAC 10 as a flat piece of metal that you could bend and weld yourself. Buy all the other parts and you had a open bolt SMG on the cheap. No private citizen NEEDS an assault rifle (semi automatic) with a 30 round magazine. Every citizen has the rite to have one and that is the big issue at present. If you outlaw them only outlaws will have them. When that happens we'll have to become Lucas McCain with a modified rapid fire lever action, as long as the barrel is 16.5 inches long. It's a never ending saga. :bang: Later,

Well, while they say when the going gets tough, the tough get going, the SMART left a long time ago.

Meaning that you've had the California rifle ban of '89 to wake you up, the Federal ban of '94 to wake you up some more, the California ban tweak of 2001 to pipe in added caffeine, a whole bunch of other lefty-state local restrictions to make you go "hmmmm", the expiration of the '94 ban in 2004 to give you a chance to deal with your pent-up consumer demand, the panic buy lasting pretty much all of Obama's first term as yet another wake up call, the 2012 election, and now the current mess.

The kids just coming of gun-buying age are really the only ones with an excuse at this point.:fiddle:
