Y'all who advocate semiautos: how well do yours function with some of the new low-recoil buckshot loads? The ones that allow a faster follow-up shot and in many shotguns pattern better than standard buckshot loads. They're becoming police standard. And do yours have the short defensive barrel or a long one?
My 1100 tac model has a 22" barrel and has functioned on everything I have put in it. I practice with bird shot because of the cost and it eats the stuff up. I have had similar experience with an 1187 Police model. My agency has a couple Benellis that will not reliably shoot low recoil rounds. That being said if I had to recommend one for SD I would go with the pump gun. With practice you can run it like a champ and not have to worry about the ammo cycling it.

In fact a better job.
