North Korea on "High Alert"

Not much new here, but still interesting.

I like this little ditty:

"The U.S. should not forget that the Anderson Air Force Base on Guam, where the [American] B-52 takes off, and naval bases in Japan and Okinawa, where nuclear-powered submarines are launched, are within striking range of the DPRK's (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) precision strike means. Now that the U.S. has started open nuclear blackmail and threats, the DPRK, too, will move to take corresponding military action."

Experts say the recent statements signal intensified brinkmanship and the world should expect to hear more.

I don't see why we get our shorts in an uproar about a 4th world power.
The ruler of the country is an immature kid who's learned from his father that he can try to manipulate world politics with outlandish threats.
    Ignore him.
As stupid as he is, the wiser powers in his government know that if they use any weapons against US bases they would risk annihilation.

I'd say "Bomb them back to the stone age" but I think that's where they're at right now. Aside from the Nuke technology they got from who knows where.

NK on 'high alert' is kind of like an ankle biter dog threatening to bite your pants leg. Just punt it over the fence.

The leader of N Korea needs to have all the citizens band together and practice chanting INCOMING! Just saying. Later,

I remember a few years back, WSutlives BIL or brother, or something like that, had a Canadian friend in the press that was allowed "free" reign in North Korea. ("Free" being strictly a relative term here). Anyway, he was carted around by some government officials who wound up taking him to one of their farm collectives to see how splendidly the NK farmers lived.

Every house had a computer on a desk by a sunlit window. Not a single house had electricity. You could even see the cords hanging without a plug in sight in the photos.

I'm not too worried about the North Koreans.

My interest wasn't so much worry as it was confusion. What does any of these threats accomplish? What is the point? Isn't there supposed to be a point? This just seems....stupid. I suppose threats might concern those countries 'local' to NK, and threatening them is no small concern. But, to threaten the U.S. with the loss of a military base while bad is not exactly the sort of thing that will change U.S. policy. Hence my confusion.

The current nutcase "Dear Leader" learned from his equally delusional daddy that making threats sometimes gets him a little bribe to shut up for a while. He's sort of like the 3-year-old kid who throws a temper tantrum in Wally World hoping to get a toy. Somebody needs to apply a little energetic pants-dusting to the little fatso, like the tantrum-thrower needs! No need to waste a bunch of nukes- - - -just swat him like a pesky mosquito!

I say tell them to put up or shut up. They've been talking smack since they signed the cease-fire in 1953. Build an ICBM that will carry a MOAB and drop it in the Dear Leader's front yard. When the wall came down, I had just finished my stint on the East German border. I said then that we should have sent another full infantry and armored division to South Korea. It's only a matter of time.

Well, don't forget that this behavior by Kim Jong Il was quite successful against the Clinton administration. They paid him off with 'humanitarian aid' to stop nuclear development, and of course, he used the money to escalate nuclear development. The only reason it isn't working against the Obama administration is that they simply cannot be bothered by foreign policy. They have succeeded in finding enough voters with their heads up their butts that they don't even pretend to care any more.

Bill Clinton he gave it away.... at present there are in excess of 20 tactical nukes in cruse missile format pointed at them, if they shoot first it will be their last act as a nation.....

    North Korean threats....

Still missing Kim yong Il's hairdos though....almost as amazing as Gadaffi's man-dresses. They don't make 3rld. world commie tyrants like they used to.

The Obama Admin will not be the only admin since Truman to use nukes. Their base would revolt.
An ankle biter dog may be a nuisance but it still has to be dealt with.
Our troops are exhausted with the continual war in Iraq and, Obama's preferred war, Afghanistan. BTW the Afghan war is just another example of his historical ignorance combined with hubris. NO world power from Alexander to the Brits to the Soviets has EVER been successful there. You can't beat people who have nothing to lose.
The Grandson of the Beloved Leader is probably too smart, or should I say cunning, to be taken out by a drone.
The present admin seems set on creating the Obacalypse in the Middle East thinking if they just give the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas money it will be fine since Barak is so charming.
Iran is not just talking when they say they will nuke Israel as soon as they have a chance.
I don't see many good options here.

Kim Jon Whatever, needs to shut his pie hole. By aiming his missles at our bases and Japan he is risking it all. We have a Carrier Battle Group based in Japan. This Battle Group contains 1 Nimitz carrier and a pair of Aegis missle cruisers plus pairs of anti aircraft and anti submarine craft plus support vessels. This is more fire power than N Korea has IF they can afford to fuel up all their planes. Come on Kim stow your mouth before you get hurt. :banned: Later,

That we have assets in the region is not what is debatable, whether or not "Barry" will make use of them is what is open for debate. The chubby moron is quite secure in his assumption that Barry will do nothing about his blustering. I think the chubby moron is right.

Maybe Curious George needs to make another stop on his apology tour. He could even work in a surrender to commemorate the "armistice" that stopped the fighting back in the early 1950's.

Barry shouldn't do anything about his blustering if anything he should ignore him completely. Bluster is just that, bluster. If he man's up and takes a shot smack him down, but as long as he's just flapping his gums let him flap'em.

I agree with you alpha, do nothing to acknowledge the little goof as long as he does nothing stupid, like fire off one of his bottle rockets. The part I am afraid of is that Barry won't be willing to do anything AFTER NK pulls a stunt. Panetta practically had to beg him to send the SEALs in to take out Bin Laden. Destroying a military base filled with people that Barry doesn't like or care about, He may not be able to work up a great deal of effort for that.

A few years ago, a documentary was released detailing a possible North Korean invasion of the U.S. It was called "Red Dawn."

Recently, another documentary, this one showing what would happen if North Korean agents take over the White House and capture the President, was released, called "Olympus Has Fallen."

We might ought to watch these movies to get a better look into this potentially lethal enemy's capabilities.

North Korea's people love or fear him. I think his posturing is more for the benefit of showing his people how tough he is.

My father took a 2 week business trip to China two years ago. There were a lot of people there that still loved Chairman Mao and were offended at any slights made towards him. I think China will be the next Japan, of sorts, simply because the leaders cannot control their people.

Jobs, money, freedom... They've got a taste now.

Are you talking about the movie with very young Patrick Swayzee in it, and took place in Colorado? I believe those were Russian soldiers invading the homeland.

Never mind. just googled Red Dawn and found out your story was a remake of the 1984 movie with NK as the invaders.

The B-52's and Stealth bombers flew some missions over South Korea, and even dropped some dummy bombs offshore. Now they need to turn on the jamming gear, and fly directly over the north. Dare the fat little wuss to gripe about it! With a bunch of American bombers directly overhead, I'll bet he would fill his britches! I worked pretty closely with some of the electronic jamming guys, and it was amazing just how good they were 30-something years ago. Now, I'll bet they're a whole bunch better! It's pretty hard to shoot something down that you can't see!

The other day the "Great Loved Leader" said his Artillery was on high alert.....wonder what that means? Did they elevate the gun tubes or maybe shove some shells in the breech's and have the lanyards ready to yank :rotflmao:

1990-91 I was stationed Camp Casey......we did a DMZ patrol.........green and red tracers from .51 and .50 cal Bushkas and Brownings going over us.........marked a minefield......not fun. I've seen the 135mm guns from those sight seeing binos at Panmoungong....you guys have no idea how close to active combat we are with this nation......they are bat-stuff crazy. The Soldier's aren't, but their leaders are.....ROK is divided, lot of family in the north, want to see them free. Do PT with the ROK soldiers......Tae Kwon Do will kick your butt! And if you get good at it, YOU will kick butt!

I had a tank loader, Jin-kwon.....he was son of a city council member......he had an attitude problem, I asked his Sgt Major of the best form of intsruction......smage says to kick his in the motor pool behind the tanks. That happened and I took some good licks...........I mean make your head spin hits.....but I got him down on a choke hold and was pummeling him with my fist wanting to beat him to death till he gave. We got up and bowed to each other, both bloodied and bruised. Jinny turned out to be one of the best crewmen I've ever had, he's now moved his wife and little girl to Los Angeles......Reminds me I gotta send a card for Easter to them.
