Ban Murder

If bans are so effective, why don't the Demos. just ban murder ?
Rights and freedoms, won with patriot's blood,
shall not be taken away, by ink from a tyrant's pen.

You mean like a law that makes murder illegal? Naw, that's a terrible idea...

    OUCH!

Ya know, if we could make Stupid illegal we would solve a lot of our social problems, but we wouldn't have enough prison space.

    Makes perfect sense to me.

We solved the healthcare issue by making it illegal to not have health insurance.
    That's all I got.

Just take the warning labels off EVERYTHING and the problem will sort itself out early. And stop saying "Don't try this at home" in all those shows showing stupid stunts. Let Darwin get a fair chance at doing what comes naturally.

    THOU SHALL NOT KILL.
    Well before any political party.

    Actually, "Thou shall not murder."

Killing was allowed, even directed. But the taking of a life outside of just war or self defense was prohibited.

Edited to add: the oldest texts we have prohibiting murder date from about 2100 BC, well before Moses walked the land. In those Sumerian texts, murder was prohibited, but there were reasonable allowances for killing another.

And contradicts everything in the natural world.

There are many reasons to kill, especially other humans.
When our governing officials dismiss due process as mere semantics, when they exercise powers they don’t have and ignore duties they actually bear, and when we let them get away with it, we have ceased to be our own rulers.

Some of those reasons are even condoned in the Bible. A lot of folks don't know what it actually says, however....

Some of us HAVE read the book, and know that the true translation of the Aramaic texts and ancient Greek is "Thou Shall Not Murder". Look it up, don't just believe what you are told. Prove me wrong.

    Simple, The Ten Commandments.
    Thou Shall Not Kill.
Meaning that you shall not kill without reason, meaning murder.
  • breamfisherbreamfisher Senior Member Posts: 13,493 Senior Member
No, the original Aramaic has different words for "kill" and "murder." They used the word for "murder" not "kill."

Correct. AAMOF, God was quite clear with His instructions to the Israelite when he commanded them to slaughter the Cannanites (and others). There is a VERY distinct differance.
