I actually nailed a squirrel on a limb at about 90 yards when I was a kid. Not my longest shot for sure, but impressive anyway. #4 shot is wonderful stuff!

Well hells bells, look who arose from the dead! Where you been man? I thought you might have assumed "Room Temperature" or something. You just faded away. And here you are! Good to see you back.

I forgot about the wood duck I nailed with a 20 gauge bolt action, when I was a kid. My dad had just told me he was too far, but I shot anyway and managed to get one pellet in his head that dropped him like a rock. Of course, it caused me to take bad shots for several years after, because I believed I could hit the long ones.
I did about the same on a shot at a canvas back one day with my dad and his buddy down at Indianola during a wet, cold, Norther blowing about 30 mph and the duck was flying with the wind. I rolled him with one shot. My dad was just trying to say, "Don't shoot, he's too far" when I let loose. It was an 80-100 yard shot. My dad said it was at least 100. I figured it was more like 90 or a little less, but who's counting? He was a long way out and flying at least 40 MPH if not 50 or more. I really to this day believe that the duck was going so fast that he really ran into the shot string, which broke his wing.
