Terroists at work in London

http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/22/world/europe/uk-london-attack/index.html
Far from "There's never a cop around when you need one." In England, it "There's never a cop with a gun around when you need one." Hell, there's never a gun around when you need one...
Rest in peace trooper....

he sounded like a Jamaican gang member from Kinston, NC.
RIP soldier.

Recoil is how you know primer ignition is complete.
Taken from the news story, note the bolded line:
The first call about an assault came in at 2:20 p.m. (9:20 a.m. ET). At some point afterward, police responded, including armed members of a firearms unit[/B], even though British police typically don't carry guns. Metropolitan Police Commander Simon Letchworth noted that "early reports" indicated the attackers had "weapons." Metropolitan Police say they're aware of reports it took 30 minutes for police to arrive.
A question: Thirty minutes?! How freaking long would it take if the guy wasn't being hacked to death?!?

Exactly...."Armed Police" is a relatively new concept....guess they finally figured that harsh language and a stick just doesn't work all the time....

How is that gun control working?
Laws don't stop bad people. They only punish the ones that are caught.
Lesson- never be disarmed. Carry a cane, an improvised flail, a sturdy pen... ANYTHING. Because the news would be a lot better if it was "Soldier saved by bystander who brains terrorist with laptop"
-Mikhail Kalashnikov
Civil Nuclear Constablulary Glock 17 and HK G36
MInistry Of Defence Police HK MP7 and Sig Sauer P229
both are not Home Office Police Forces
regular police armed units are armed with usually Glock 17 HK G36, MP5, AR15 semi auto's
sniper units either the Accuracy International L96, HK PSG1, and i think a few remmy 700 as well
to say this is a horrific murder is an understatement, the soldier murdered has been identified as being 25yr old Drummer Lee Rigby, he has a 2 yr old son
RIP Drummer Rigby
One lady was talking the terrorist down. Pretty courageous, actually. I'll try to find the article.
She asked what his intent was and he replied, "to start a war." She said, "You're going to lose," and asked for his weapons.
Ovaries of brass.

No doubt, that had to be surreal.
That solution is just all kinds of wrong. When a soldier can't walk the streets of his own country in uniform it's time to take the country back.

Same thing happened here in the States...during my time in the Army, (1969-1974) we were advised not to wear the uniform off post

They (Terrorist) want to cut our (Infidel) throats ear to ear, why is that so hard for the PC crowd to accept? The GWOT (Global War On Terrorism) is far from over and injecting nice sounding polite words ( Like Workplace Violence/Homegrown/Disenfranchised Immigrant) in their descriptions of a terrorist attack won't make them go away.
I think it will take another 9/11 scale attack (Heaven Forbid and I pray:angel2: it won't happen again) for some to pull their collective heads outta their arses and wake up to the very real threat we face.

I'd rather have my sister work in a whorehouse than own another Taurus!
I was in the Army from 1965-1968, serving at Ft. Polk, LA, Vietnam, and Ft. Bragg, NC. Never was I encouraged to not wear a uniform off post. If I were in the British army and told that it was too dangerous to be seen in public in uniform in my own country, I'd say it's time to bring our troops back home to patrol the streets of London. To hell with Iraq and Afghanistan. Let those bastards kill one another!
Something's messed up in Britain. Ordinary policemen are unarmed. Honest citizens are unarmed. Sounds like criminal's paradise. According to a comment by Tom Gresham on his radio show, you will be arrested and likely to go prison if you were to shoot a home invader. Watch out, guys, modern history has showed that everything bad that happens in England, comes to America within 10-20 years.
I was in from 71-76 and we had the same advisory. But EVERY TIME I had to travel under orders in the States I had to be in either dress whites or blues due to the nature of what I was doing and where I was going. I avoided a few instances of assault by dropping my seabag I had slung over my shoulder and going into full blown foul language mode at the top of my lungs and advancing on the person(s) wanting to tangle. Seemed to work as no one wanted to tangle with what appeared to be a lunatic with a lack of any semblance of self preservation.
On a lighter note, I impressed a couple of Marines at JFK airport. One of them said even his DI in boot camp didn't use that much foul language, and he didn't recognize some of the words.:roll2: I was extremely mad to start with(long story to do with my Division Officer prior to travel), and the two greasy hippies messing with me pushed me over the edge. Looking back on that incident now it's kind of funny.
