Is nothing sacred anymore ?
I see that a company in China, is attempting to takeover
Smithfield of Virginia, who is famous the world over, for their
hams, the co. was established in 1752.
This is a disgrace!

So now they'll truly be Communist pigs.

If you look at Smithfield's business practices, the Chinese will be a good fit for them. They control every aspect of their ham production (can only buy their pigs from them, use their feed, sell back to them at a price they determine...), have been known to skirt or steamroll environmental and labor laws, and just generally do things to skirt the market.

    Kinda like the Chinese.

China has massive food safety issues due to lack of effective regulation of the sector so Chinese consumers have huge demand for foreign brands. My guess is that this deal has a whole lot to do with selling American pigs to China than selling chinese pork to Americans.

    Now there's a plan!

I read about this in either Forbes or the WSJ or something and this my take from article I read. The company's release was about how it was a great market for them.

There should be organized a nationwide boycott of Smithfield products. The Chinese company that bought Smithfield is owned by Goldman-Sachs - Obama's favorite Wall Street banksters, from whom he gets cabinet members and advisors when he needs one. We, the people, were successful in removing "pink slime" from supermarkets, we can do the same with pork. I'm willing to forego pork for awhile if that's what it takes to force Goldman-Sachs to unload Smithfield to an American buyer.

To hell with China, Goldman-Sachs, and the swine who owned Smithfield and sold it to begin with.

Well, foregoing pork really isn't necessary. All that's needed is to not buy Smithfield and patronize another producer. There are plenty of smaller, more local pork or beef or whatever suppliers.

As I said, I will not buy any ChiCom pork products. Here is a list of Smithfield brands I will be avoiding like the plague: Smithfield, Eckrich, Farmland, Armour, Cook's, Gwattney, John Morrell, Kretschmar, Curly's, Carando, Margherita, and Healthy Ones.

It won't be easy since Smithfield pork products are also found in other brands that are not necessarily their own subsidiaries. But if we boycott the brands above, it will still send a strong message - NO SALE to the effing ChiComs. No trading with the enemy! BTW, Motorola is now marketing the first Smartphone to be MADE IN AMERICA. Enjoy.
