I've done a lot of looking lately at small 9mm's. I've carried a PF-9 for years, a little rough but I'm happy with it. They claim it to be the thinnest and lightest 9mm made. I was looking recently for a gun for my girlfriend. I had several in mind I thought would be good for her and had her handle them all and pick what she wanted. She went with the Ruger LC9. Almost identical in size to my keltec but definately nicer. A bit heavier too but still very light. I really liked the Kahr CW9 too, she ruled it out because the spring was too heavy and she had a hard time working the slide. Out of everything we looked at though my first pick was the Shield. Shield, CW9, LC9 and PF9 are all about the same size, any difference is negligible. The PF9 does have the weight adbantage over all of them though. But in the overall picture of trigger, sights, feel, fit & finish the Shield was on top. They will all fit in the pocket of loose jeans and not too heavy for your shorts. We also looked at the Beretta Nano, a CZ Rami, another CZ something, a Bersa, some compact 1911's and a few compact revolvers like the SP101 and similar. Like I said, it was her pick and I really like the LC9 and the kahr but the Shield edged them out to me, felt great in my hand, good trigger, nice sights.

I used to do that after handling anything that wasn't a 1911, but I figured that not doing so helped boost my immune system.

Not doing so led to the purchase of a Savage.
