The cat bumped my elbo well I was adjusting the dial on the way back machine. I went too far and all my marks were erased. I'll likely leave them that way........
Not my guns. For identification purposes all legally registered guns over here have a title linked to your firearms' licence.
Only things discretely marked with my initials (plain scratched with the tip of a knife) are plastic mags of my CZ & Ruger .22LR mags, to avoid confusions at the range table.
I open my fly, pull it out and pee on my guns. it can get messy, but after some time it will dry.....
i dont mark my guns. I have more guns than my shooting friends and i know what i have. My tastes are more old school and most of my friends are new tinkertoy guns. I do have some tinkertoy guns, but they are different.
About the only thing i may mark is a mag. Since i have some older CZs, they dont like the newer mags, so i have to go through all of my CZ mags and mark the ones that will work in the older CZs.
Also if i were to bring out a bunch of my guns, we keep our guns separate. Or i will only open/use a few at a time.
if marking your guns/mags works for you, more power to you.
Over here in our Socialist Utopia we are not allowed to mark our guns to differentiate them from other similar guns. Everything/everyone has to be equal................
Still enjoying the trip of a lifetime and making the best of what I have.....
The only things I mark are the 6.8SPC Mags. I do have an excel spreadsheet with make, model, serial number, caliber and estimated value. Have pictures of each on a couple of thumb drives in a safe place.
Logistics cannot win a war, but its absence or inadequacy can cause defeat. FM100-5
Not that I have any guns, ever have, or ever intend to have any, but I hear tell that they're already marked with this thing called a serial number. Some, so I hear, actually write down the serial number, make, model and other identifying characteristics and store that information in a safe place.
That's just what I hear, though. I can't say from experience.

Gun control laws make about as much sense as taking ex-lax to cure a cough.

My "throw down" guns, OTOH, have my name, address, and phone number Dremmeled all over them, since I don't really want to throw them away.
