Wife's mad. We just picked it up and they had it all waxed and detailed. So of course it rained all of the way home.
What-ever, it is for hauling deer anyway, you are going to be our newly minted deer slayer with your first bolt action.
It's  finally legal in Ohio now.... but only certain straight wall cartridges.

    .357 minimum to .50 maximum

Always thought the .357 Maximum would be a good deer round.

My last college roommate had a Contender with that barrel, he said it worked well on WI whitetails

Wonder how far apart the 357 Max and 350 legend are ballistically? I've seen the 350 ammo on the shelf several place where the Max might be tough to find.

I can't remember the last time I saw a box of .357 max on the shelf.

Accepted a bid on our Florida house. Won't close for 5 weeks, but that's one thing out of our hair....

The Marvel movie, Shang-Chi, Legend of the 10 Rings, was pretty good, the bus fight scene is worth the price of admission, there is a teaser after the credits, no Stan Lee that I saw, see it in the theatre.

Got a wild hair up my butt today. Since I got my second lathe, the 3 jaw chuck has stayed off of it due to it having .003 runout about a half inch from the chuck. Theres nothing I do that warrants that crappy of accuracy so the 4 jaw has always stayed on it. I thought today I would try my hand at regrinding the jaws. Its hard to describe the setup that I made and used but to my surprise when I was done, .0004! And it only has about .0015 6 inches from the chuck now. I can finally use the dang thing.

I don’t even understand those numbers but they do explain why my .44 shoots so well 🤣

Lol. I basically took the runout from the thickness of a hair to one tenth of the thickness of a hair.

That's some impressive numbers. You wanna come tune up my Hazard Fraught drill press? Its runout is measured in feet...

Its probably the chuck itself. Those are typically affixed to the spindle via a Jacob's Taper which are fairly stout in itself. You ever think about replacing the chuck?

That's a brainwave right there. I'll look into it as its pretty wobbly as it is. I just figured it was a bearing and/or shaft problem.

We "lost" our esthetician. Had to find a new one. I was due a facial before my wife was due hers, so off I went. I think I like this gal - she's a bit cheaper, AND she does better eyebrows than the old one did!

    Well crap.
As many here know, I make and sell "Sistra" (Sistrums), an ancient musical instrument generally associated with Egypt. I just found out that my latest shipment of single hole finger cymbals - each Sistrum uses 10 of them - are NOT brass as advertised, but appear to be gold alodined steel. I've been importing these from Turkey for years, but used a different supplier several months ago when I bought this latest batch - same brand, blah, blah, blah...
As CPJ found out, making a one off is fairly simple, but when you go into production, esp. if you source finished parts from elsewhere, there's always a procurement headache of one sort or another. I found some on Amazon that purport to be brass, so I ordered enough for 2 Sistra to evaluate the damn things. Probably "Hecho En China", but what other choice do I have? Nobody really uses single hole finger cymbals anymore, so they're fairly hard to find. 99% of Belly Dancers (including me) - the primary market for finger cymbals or "Zills" - have switched to the double slotted version which is more stable on the finger. But I need the single hole type for my Sistra, unless I want to use cheap-ass tambourine jangles - which even these steel Zills are better than that!
Picture for reference for those who don't understand what the Hell I'm yakking about - Sistrum in the center was my prototype and is a bit on the (too) large side...

Got it in place. Need to think of a way to bolt it through floor that can't be unbolted from the basement.

There will be lag bolts in the back going into the wall behind it.

I'll be officiating a wedding tomorrow. I'm probably more nervous than my buddy and his bride.

Good luck, and have fun! I'm supposedly qualified to officiate also, but I've never done it.

Just got home. The ceremony went beautifully. They picked a great day to have an outdoor wedding. Not a bit of bad weather. It was really neat to be a part of joining two people together too.
