We went to El Paso
Been here a couple of days, weather has been good; a lot of rain at night
and felt temps similar to home home, locals complaining about humidity and
we think it is nice.
Number #1 son is feeding us well, had javelina last night and contrary to most reports
it was quite good and even Clean ate it. Having elk tonight. Oryx on the future menu.
Went to New Mexico today and shopping in Mesilla so Clean could buy some turquoise jewelry
with the DIL.
Staying at the Ft. Bliss guest house, so we are surrounded by Doggies.

I'd rather have my sister work in a whorehouse than own another Taurus!

I couldn't walk 2 blocks without being harassed by rows of people standing literally with their hands out, "Que?" "Que?" and when I'd answer them back in German, they'd for some strange reason be irritated. Right out the window of my office I could see deep clouds of black smoke rolling across into the city from the squatter camps in Mexico, all burning old tires. It was a real delight, breathing in the rancid pollution from that bastion of freedom.
In 1990, I did have a fun experience. A pal of mine who managed a couple of grocery baking shops was named Manfred Wagner. He was "slightly" German as you might guess, and he knew quite a few of the German military, the German Air Force contingent, stationed in Ft. Bliss.
For the reunification celebration party, he was invited and took me along. The party was held on base in this big hangar. They had old style oompah bands and some pop German bands, too. The German Air Force flew in numerous kegs of genuine German brew, and we ate and drank till near dawn. Then Manfred and I tried to find my car so we could drive back to west El Paso where we lived. Except that we were way too drunk to even find the car, let alone drive. Eventually we got lost, wandering the big Ft. Bliss area and found a small storage shed to crash in, slept for a while, then upon waking, were able to find the car. All that time nobody in the MPs or other security challenged us and nobody said a thing. They probably just figured "more of those drunk krauts".

I really listened to the song "El Paso".
DIL and her family are, most born here.
And her Mom is a great cook.
The elk was excellent the boy cooked.
I would go AWOL before I got stationed in Duck Hunter land though...
+1
So did you look at holsters fer the .327 or put in a draw string tobacco pouch where it belongs. :jester:

One Delta pilot got hot brakes, which always got someone a lot of ribbing in TAC jets.
And a couple pranged it on the runway like it was a carrier landing.
No issues at the homestead.
Jay, the boy had a full sked for us; thanks for the offer.
Oh, the flamenco dancing the DIL was in was fun----OLAY.
Saw a formation of a few troops in that new blue and white uniform, sorta looks like landlocked Coast Guard; our son said that was the clincher to retire when he did.
Good luck with it, hey.

I understand. When you only get to see 'em but occasionally, you spend time with the family.
