If you have a 3.3 XD-S, check this recall from Springfield Armory.

Thanks for the warning! Mine is recalled. It sucks that Springfield didn't notify me! They say mine will be upgraded, but don't explain what parts are involved. I guess ignorance is bliss.

I'm sending mine in today, and couldn't stand not knowing what they're doing to it, so I called Springfield Armory.
They are replacing the grip safety.

Did you fill out the warranty registration after you purchased it? A Springfield rep was on Tom Greshams Guntalk radio Sunday. He said it has been difficult to get ahold of XD-S owners because a quit a few had not registered them with Springfield.

I never understood how companies expect Americans to register their guns. We have kind of a visceral reaction to that that makes us want to go all wookie suit libertarian.

bullsi i was thinking the same thing, but you said it so much better. who really wants their name on any list associated with a specific gun?

I sent mine in a couple of weeks ago and recently got an update from SA. They still haven't finalized what their fix will be. Translation - we've got a pile of pistols and don't yet know how we are going to fix them.

I've got plenty of other carry guns but probably would have held onto it for a while if I knew they hadn't figured it out yet.

Even after the NSA scandal you think your new gun purchases aren't on a database.....

This is why I let you guys buy all the latest wiz-bang stuff, then pick it up for cheap on the used rack.

That would work if they didn't have all your screen names and passwords, every credit card transaction and who you have emailed called and texted.

Unless they've figured out a way to look over our shoulders in the machine shop, there are at least a couple of Tennessee ridgerunners flying under the radar!

Not to be rude, but- no duh. They are doing that by force, and illegally. Why make it easier by voluntarily signing up in another place?

Oh, BTW- it looks like the ATF is illegally scanning 4473s during "audits" and creating an illegal registration database:

Received another update. Fix has been tested and confirmed. SA will now start working on the pistols in a first in first out fashion.

I got 850 rnds through mine with no hiccup whatsoever. I thought they HAD a fix at the time the recall was announced (a roll pin needed to be put in the grip safety I thought) be that as it may, I'm not liking mine very much. The grip is too small and rough to shoot it comfortably beyond 50 rnds at a time, but no one will take it in trade until SA "fixes" it.

I posted it and so did Concho. The recall was to prevent the possibility of something bad happening, not to fix something bad that did happen. Plus you get a free mag out of it. What a country!

Think that was before the XD-S recall. You can do a self check on that one to see if it is in need of repair. Slowly pull the trigger of the UNLOADED gun pulling from the very end of the trigger. You should watch the trigger block notch move out of the way freely.

In other words, somewhere in the M&P's horribly long trigger pull the notch should retract just before the trigger itself starts to flex adding to its horrible pull. Then you get another half inch or so of spongy creep before it finally goes click..
