Concealed Carry in Illinois

Thought I had seen something here concerning this but I could be mistaken. As of July 9, we non-Illinoisians no longer have to avoid the entire state in our travels.

The pertinent details follow:
However, out of state residents are granted a limited exception to lawfully carry a concealed firearm within a vehicle if they are eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence and are not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law. This rule becomes effective immediately.
If the non-resident leaves his/her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection (b) of Section 65 of the Firearm Concealed Carry Act.

Fixed it for ya. There is no reason to go to Illinoise until they recognize the Constitution again.
Our reason is you can't get there from here or you have to take a ferry across Lake Michigan or add a few 100 miles..
At that, it is bad enough avoiding Chicago.
We're not going anywhere near Chicago.
Go through it or go to it, the same. It's up east and that means rust belt, liberals, and snow. I hate snow.
Well, the real problem is that you're starting on the wrong side of Illinois in the first place, it seems. You should already be living on the Kansas side of Illinois so that you don't have to pass through it. ha ha
Twelve more years Sam, twelve more years.
Always went with caution in mind, although public transport was clean, well-maintained, and seemed largely problem-free. The culture there though is a bit different.
We left the theater to a guy on the curb aggressively flagging down taxis for departing patrons. Apparently a homeless or nearly-so dude, who really got irate if someone didn't tip him generously for his unsolicited assistance. Only point in the trip where I was mildly apprehensive and would have been more comfortable with something a bit more than a strong voice.
No... but it does make for a shorter trip.
Glad you made it out in one piece. I cannot imagine going to Chicago on purpose. What's that about?
Fascinating city, if you can ignore the politics and corruption. Navy Pier, the Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Natural Science, and local businesses and landmarks are quite interesting, including the fountain so familiar to fans of "Married...With Children" - all worthwhile sights.
The seedier sides of Chicago, however, make me very nervous on a personal safety level.
Yeah, but can you get a decent pizza? I hear there's a lot of that strange deep-dish thick-crust action goin' on. EEEK.

Do you always bring a butter knife to a gunfight?
Welcome to Southern Arizona! We have 2 seasons here - summer and Christmas Day. In winter, you can skinny dip in your swimming pool and go skiing the same day up in the mountains. The icing on the cake - Constitutional carry. Enjoy.
